one thing that works extremely well, is imagine you have a giant classroom marker board, keeping your eyes closed imagine yourself drawing large numbers as to fill the entire board with the number. start with 100, draw so that it touches the ends of the board, then erase it, then draw 99 and erase it, and so on.

it is said that most people get to about 74 and fall asleep, but if i remember doing it come morning, i sometimes have gotten to 3 or 4. this is a relaxing exercise that calms, it also helps bide time till you can drift to sleep

if this is something that is reoccurring, you may have to make some life changing moves

some people need to eliminate all other activities on their bed, making their bed associated with sleep and sleep only which makes the bed a restful place not associated with busy work.

also, getting into a rhythm of taking a warm bath/shower and having a bedtime routine can help

some people exercise during the day in order to use up some energy

also, try not to eat within a few hours of going to bed, that can cause problems with sleeping

sometimes warm milk helps people (the amino acids) i personally dont like warm milk, and cold milk helps me just fine

maybe listen to byzantine chanting, or falling rain, try to avoid music as that stimulates the brain.

im not a doctor, but these are tips i learned. it is 3 AM as i type this, and so obviously i dont follow most of these tips, but they do help when i follow them

i hope this helps

Do the simple things first and don't ignore them cause they are simple...like I tend to do. 1. exercise often but not right before bed. 2. Try benedryl...the anti-histamine, with a small dose and increase it till it works within dose limits...it's safe and cheap.

Don't force yourself to do anything.
It will just make it worse.
counting from 100 downwards and everytime thinking to yourself to feel more relaxed with every step or number is a good way.

It sounds crude but masterbation really helps, also if your not tired when you go to bed,go to bed later. if you still cant get to sleep get up and go to a different part of the house and do something there, after half an hour go back to bed and try again. Also not thinking about anything important helps

Have sex! It's way better than masturbation! Or start writing a novel or something fun.
