I saw this home theater Sterio receiver that included 5 speakers. The receiver has two tubes in it. Approximitly how long would the system last. Not really sure about the tubes.

tube life depends

always let the tubes warm up when turn the receiver on and let it sit on for a little bit letting the tubes glow bright orange. The tubes work best when they are hot as hell so don't get worried if the receiver gets very hot that's normal.

Let them cool down when done listening before firing it up again.

Tube life depends on how hard you drive the system and for how long. I am assuming the two tubes are pre amp tubes for warmth. most likely 12ax7 or 12at7 they are much like light bulbs and do burn out after so long I have seen tubes last from a year to 3 years but you will know when they are cooked. No worries tubes are about 15 bucks each they are not expensive unless you buy nos ones.

Have fun

Signs of tubes going

1.) crackle sounding at all vol
2.) loss of vol
3.) blueish color inside the tubes due to gas leaking inside
The great things about tube/valve's is that different pre amp tubes will make you system sound better or different. Some are rated different so you can experiment with different types (as long as they are a matched pair and enjoy).

Hi ,well it all depends on the tubes and how long they are used for .Some can last for 20,000 hours or more. but when they go out you just replace them with the same value.
