I'm shaw there is plenty of information on the web about this question, but while I'm here, I thought I'd just ask. How do you use fishing rigs (on a rod) and what do they do. Thanks

a rig just describes basically your hook and bait and weight, and how they are put together mainly. there are many types of rigs designed for all different fishing circumstances, i.e. rigs that help keep you from getting snagged, rigs that come off the weight when you hook a fish, rigs that hide the hook.

hi there well a rig and there are many thousands of versions for diffrent types of fishing for freashwater sea fly and so on
the basic set up of a rig would be about 5 to 6 foot in lenght for seafishing roughly 150 grams of lead and a 1 up 1 down hook system then of course rigs vary on what type of fish u want to catch so the rigs lines and hooks would change then if you are cating from the shore u also have to take in to account the areo dynamics if yoou use the wrong rig and big baits u casting distance will drop bait elastic fixes the bait problem but a rig is what basically cathces your fish if it and the bait are presented correctly
tight lines

The best rig is a Herring rig. It has four hooks plus you put a lure on the bottom for weight. It's simple to use, just toss and catch.
