Thats a really touchy subject, most Christians tend to shy away from it, most proclaim that if a man has the Lord then he cannot be possessed by a demon, but there is no scriptural truth to this.If you really are interested i would suggest a book called 'he came to set the captives free' by rebecca Brown, it will explain alot, and has alot of scriptural reference

I don't believe in demons, or that people can be overtaken by them.
I think that people who feel as if they have been "possessed" may be suffering from a serious mental illness, unrelenting stress, religious fervor, etc.
For someone with a mental illness, not treating the underlying sickness can only lead to problems farther down the line. In the case of the woman portrayed in the film The Exorcism of Emily Rose, it led to her death.
For others, the mind can be a very powerful thing, and if the person truly believes they are possessed, then only an exorcism can help. No demons would be cast out, but the afflicted *believes* that they are undergoing an exorcism and so the symptoms disappear.

Yes I do believe someone can be possessed by demons. I am not sure exactly how it happens but I believe that the person who becomes possessed opens themselves up to it somehow. I believe a pastor or a priest can exorcise the demon out of someone but if would have to be someone with tremendous faith. I have saw one person that I believed to be possessed I don't know for sure but the guy had killed his mother and he could talk using different voices. Scientist may have come up with a name for this disease but I believe he was possessed.

Yes! I do believe someone can be possessed. I used to work in psychiatric nursing and I have seen several people who admit that they are. Some of my co-workers actually saw a person levitating in their hospital room. SEVERAL preachers were called and they prayed the demons out. It is NOTHING to play around with!! Once you have actively invited the devil into your life he will fight before letting you go. I have 2 really interesting videos by Roger Morneau who was into a satanic worship group at one time. He gives several facts about getting away from the devil. This is one of the main facts.....the DEVIL WANTS YOU DEAD! Some other points were that if you have any item that was ever used in devil worship...get rid of it. I believe that there is NO human that can get rid of the devil by himself.....it is by God's power ONLY that the devil will leave you.

Yes, I do believe that in rare instances (and most likely when the individual is completely willing and open to the demonic force) someone can indeed become possessed. It has happened to a few people before and it's a scary situation. I had to learn about exorcisms briefly in a Theology class.
I do happen to know an exorcist priest.

Yes. If you read the Gospels, Jesus did it all the time. The Pharisees also practised it, that is why they accused Jesus of casting out demons 'in the name of satan'.
I've been part of a Deliverance Ministry and done it many times. And to see the joy and relief these people experience is amazing. But we must be balanced about this. Don't go looking for demons under every bed.

i do believe people can be possesed by demons... demons can be transmitted through lots of things... too many ways to list. but they can be taken out.. by praying for the person and rebuking the demons in Jesus' name. i guess thats what is known as an exorcism?

Seems a bit ridiculous to me. To those who believe that they or their loved ones are possessed, I'd recommend getting some professional help.

No, but mental illness does exist - the church is filled with the most delusional and mentally unstable among our society.
