I would rather believe and find out I'm wrong, than to not believe and find out I was wrong.

I quote Bob Jones inaccurately when I say this: "I like to play safe."
If I die, and become dust, and that's that, then I'm safe.
If I die and reincarnate, then I'm safe.
If I die, and go to heaven's gates, then God would let me in. I'm still safe
If I die, and go to heaven, and the angel at the gate told me that I had wasted my time doing all those Christian stuff because everyone goes to heaven, then I'm still safe
so that's that.
However, there is also experiential knowledge with the realness of God. That's highly personal and there's no way anyone else can teach you that except God. Others just point the way....and once you learn of the realness of God (don't worry, He'll teach you that Himself), and you learn of the truth of His Word in the Bible, then you believe it. That's why I believe in heaven as if it were fact, not just some idea someone stuck in my head.
The apostle Paul says the same thing in 2 Timothy 1:12
For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.
[sorry about quote, but it's just that it reflects very accurately my sentiments =P]

I have had a personal experience with GOD. We communicate regularly in prayer and bible study. Since I have a relationship I have begun to understand God's character and a little bit about how he operates. With this said I stand behind everything he tells me. He has never let me down. He says in the bible and speaks to me and tells of great rewards in heaven for diligence and sacrifice in this life. I know this first because the bible says it and because God as my friend has supported all information found inside this bible. If it doesn't exists then nothing exist. I was wondering why you don't want scripture passages to support this because after my personal relationship which supports the bible totally. It is the best worded explanation because it was inspired by God himself. The two go hand in hand.

I can answer without quotes-I'll have to say that I'm getting my answers from the Bible, because as a Christian, that's how one finds such information-I mean, its not gonna come from ESPN or QVC, OK? Eternity in Heaven was purchased FOR us, and its something the believer has been assured of. If you want to book a flight on a jet, you have to have purchased a ticket to present at the proper gate in order to get on board-simple enough? The Christians ticket, so to speak, is that when he/she believed, God "sealed" him/her as His own by indwelling them with the Holy Spirit. This is actually the "down payment" needed to secure our place in heaven when the time comes. WE have actually been "purchased" for eternity, and that is basically how the transaction goes down. The difference with the airline analogy is that God pays the freight-the Christian simply receives it.

There is no way to know that. That is where faith comes into play. Christians dont think about those things for we have faith that we will one day be able to join God in heaven. BTW. The dead cannot speak, nor can they communicate with the living. The dead are dead and know no time or place. When the dead die to the dust they shall return with no thoughts in their non existance.

Most christians will not.
(Revelation 20:4-5) And I saw thrones, and there were those who sat down on them, and power of judging was given them. Yes, I saw the souls of those executed with the ax for the witness they bore to Jesus and for speaking about God, and those who had worshiped neither the wild beast nor its image and who had not received the mark upon their forehead and upon their hand. And they came to life and ruled as kings with the Christ for a thousand years. 5 (The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were ended.) This is the first resurrection.
They are just not good enough.

The mistake you make is an assumption that we still haven't found God. You see, Christian life, here and now allows you to already develop a relationship with God. You don't find him after you die, but before. I hope you too reach out to Him and find Him through Christ.

Well, the only other possibility is nothingness, in my opinion. Why would you want to live your life just to die one day? It makes no sense to me. I would rather live with hope my whole life and then find nothing.

If you didnt find Heaven, was Heaven what you were seeking in the first place? If you are seeking God for any reason but love for God himself, you are really seeking your own selfishness.

I am guessing Christians will just have to accept something else is true. Thankfully, not many religions punish people for not believing if they have lead a life of doing good.

I'll just roam around in space. I might encounter the Klingons, the Romulans, the Borg. I'd love it.
