Can one be legally ordained through the Universal Life Church Monestary? I'm a bit skeptical as it is free.
see http://themonastery.org/ for more information

Yes. You can also get ordained online for free with the Church of Spiritual Humanism. There are a number of these groups that'll ordain anyone for free. The catch is that you've got to go to your local courthouse and register to make it truly legal, but that's easy enough to do. I've got several friends who were ordained for free online, including with the ULC, got registered, and now perform weddings and other official functions. As long as you're properly registered with the local authorities, it's legal.

Yes, you can be ordained through the Universal Life Church.
I know because I was ordained through ULC. Your intention behind doing this is important. For over 25 years, I have studied different religions and spiritual belief systems from all over the world. I chose to be ordained through ULC after checking into it. It is legitimate, although those in the mainstream do not feel that it is right in that you don't have to go through divinity school to become ordained. I took this course of action very seriously. It was a private and solemn occasion for me.
One of the reasons I became ordained was to be able to officiate at weddings. I have done this twice and have another one planned for later this year.
ULC also provides courses and many other things one needs for being a minister.
Blessings to you.

Yes but while it is a legal ordination it is hardly a respected one. If you are interested in being ordained by a group that ordains Ford Pick-up Trucks and pet puppies they are the group for you. If you want to get ordained by a real group you need to check with your local church Pastor.

Yes, it is legal. I have provided the official website.

As a minister you can start a church or ministry and can perform weddings and funerals and ordain other ministers. Some get ordained through the ULC and then create websites and charge people to be ordained.

If you are going to become ordained, do it at http://www.ulchq.com They're the real Universal Life Church. The site you listed isn't affiliated with the ULC.

The ULC only ordains people, not objects or pets.

Yep

But it is UP to you to make your own sect or branch acceptable and legal.

When the Catholics or Lutherans or Methodists decide to plant a church in some area they do all the work and because of who and what they are it's a mear formaility.

You would have to do you own 501(c) work and convince them you are Genuine.

The main Universal Life Church is genuine, but they don't do "franchises."

They aren't chartered to do "franchises"

So you are an independent operator and must do you own ground work to get accepted in your area.

The Catholic Church does franchises. Like McDonalds.

They send a crew in, build a church, get the tax exempt status and then assign one or more priests to that church.

That does NOT happen in the ULC

You are ordained, but it's often considered a Lay Ministry.

You can make it a legitimate one, but it takes work.

You can be 'ordained' by any organisation. Whether that's accepted by other organisations is another matter, eg. the Church of Rome does not recognise the ordinands of the Anglican Church.

this is quite interesting. I'll have 2 check it out. Since the age of 17, I have wanted my own religion. One that listens, asks and listens again. Not one that's into brainwashing as most of them are.

thanks!

The Universal Life Church believes that it is every person’s responsibility to act holistically, to do nothing to impinge on the rights others, and to uphold religious diversity and freedom. Everyone – men, women, and children from around the globe – must be able to practice their spiritual and religious beliefs without interference or threat from any government, religious, or societal force. If you feel as if your rights are being wrongly restricted, please visit http://www.ulcnetwork.com and the Universal Life Church will do all in its power to help you.
