Conscience is lessons learned, understood and acted upon similar to basic 'rules' set by different religions.
Conscience directs us to consider complex issues within an ethical framework, to understand others dis-similar to ourselves. Whereas religions are generally more prescriptive and excluding. Leading to similar (but not the same) values for believers and non believers.
See Sources below: The first five of the ten Commandments are about 'worshiping' God.
The next ones donated by * are basic rules for a 'safe' environment. Here conscience again is similar but definitely not the same as God's rules. Rules are needed to ensure that society is 'safe' for people to live in. For example if shooting people dead was legal, nonpunishable and socially accepted, then that would be good if you wanted to shoot dead other people but would interfere with how you lived your own life as others could equally shoot you dead.
Conscience allows for mistakes, new learning, re-evaluation in light of new knowledge, material or situations. The words of God are similarly re-interpreted by powerful religious leaders, but over much longer periods of time, so there is much more lag in general view and religious view.
Conscience firmly dictates total inclusion of all people, all nationalities, all age, gender, ability, sexual preference, social class etc. Many religions are dis-similar in this respect. Both however, actively encourage people care, although I would argue to very different degrees.
Conscience firmly places us within an eco system. It does not set us apart from the natural world and eco systems or give us 'divine' rights. Nor should religions but many do allow for the exploitation of the environment. The voice of Buddhism is most similar to conscience.
I could not kill another in the name of my conscience. Many people have been killed in the name of religion.
I have no 'punishment' or 'hell' to direct me in positive living. I have no 'reincarnation' or Heaven to reward me for positive living. My conscience is the only reward.
The words of God give many people a lot of comfort, particularly in times of stress, pain and loss. As a non believer that is not available to me. I am alone in stress, pain and loss and can only look to myself and my conscience to understand/come to terms with that.
Great question: thanks.

this voice, the inner voice is the voice of the spirit!it is a silent voice that is non judgmental, non bias and as pure as gold.it is different from your conscience but a lot of people mistakenly take them to mean thaesame thing!no.your spirit uses the inner voice whiles your conscience is produced by your helpers.
usually, your conscience speaks when you are about to make a decision!these helpers that we all have were once humans who have passed on with faults similar to yours.they will drop their weakness by helping you so they fashion your conscience when you are about to fall into their very weakness.it could be greed, lust, hatred etc.

Knowledge of good and evil perhaps? At least that's the way I've always seen the "original sin". By eating of the tree of knowledge, man was given the knowledge to distinguish between good and evil...and with that knowledge came the responsibility to choose between them.

You are the one that produces both. They are both electrochemical processes within the brain, and they both dissapear when the brain no longer shows any activity..
