just quoting what the 7th answerer answered in this question (most probably a Bible-fundie):

here's the exact words that answerer said: "...it is amazing that a catholic would dare to say he or she is a Christian."

I'm just wondering, do Bible-fundies have knowledge of history?

as a Catholic, I say we are Christians because we ARE. it doesn't take a genius that we are the original.

Most Protestants are not "bible fundies". Fundies are groups who make sure they don't mix with "outsiders".

I agree that it doesn't take a genius to say that Catholics are the original Christians. No genius would make such a claim.

Catholicism is a political invention, not a religious one. It came along 300 years after Jesus was crucified. The "original" Christians were thriving at the time and spreading the gospel around the world.

Those "original" churches and the churches that sprang up from their ministry as the gospel spread didn't stop when Catholicism was invented. They kept going despite the subsequent persecution of the original Christians by Catholics.

That original church lives on today. It's neither Catholic nor their evil offspring, the protestants. It's found in churches that are independent of the unbiblical denominational hierarchies that have grown up today. These churches are among the fastest growing in Christendom today.

So, no, the Catholics aren't the originals. Not even close. They deny many fundamental doctrines of the Bible and invent some real crazy stuff of their own.

Any historian knows that the world would be Christian free, if not for the labors of Catholic monks who preserved the scriptures, translated them and hand copied them for centuries before the printing press was invented so that the bible scriptures could be spread across the earth. So if you believe in God, you cannot deny that he put the work of preserving his holy word in the hands of the Catholic church.
That is history not opinion.
All Christians are nuts, so you all are Christians to me.

Catholics aren't christians because they don't follow what the bible says. They think the Pope is almost like God. Which is idolatry. The priests can't marry and the bible teaches it is good for couples to be together, thats probably why priests molest children. they have sexual urges too. They have a confession booth in the church for the priest to forgive sins. But only God can forgive sins, not a man. They also esteem Mary over Jesus and Jesus is the one they are supposed to be following

There's been a lot of confusion, obviously as Catholics are known to worship Mother Mary and the various Saints although Jesus Christ and God are still part of their beliefs.

As for Christians, there's no prayers to Mother Mary or any of the Saints.

I am a Catholic. Roman Catholicism is the largest single denomination within Christianity. We believe in God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Ghost; furthermore, we believe in Christ's sacrifice at Calvary. If that's not Christian, then what is?

A Christian is born again of the Spirit of God (John 4:3-8). Anyone who is born again is a Christian irrespective of what denomination he belongs.

Anyone who believes in Jesus as the messiah is a Christian. Catholicism is a sub category of Christianity.

Catholics share the same God, the same Jesus, and the same redemptive theology as all other Christians. There's no justification for anti-Catholic prejudice.

They don't know history...but a lot of protestants don't see Catholicism because of the canon law...they don't see it as God's law....therefore not a true church, not a Christian church...
