Both sides have a strong belief that they are right. If there were no religious people, there would be no atheists.

They both deem the proposition "Does God Exist" to be meaningful. In other words they both think that the proposition Does God Exist is either true or false. Positivist on the other hand take a completely different stance, from Atheists, Theists, Agnostics and the like. They contend the question Does God Exist to be all together meaningless. After all this question is neither a priori or posteriori propostion.
Something that can be known prior to sense experience (Such as a bachelor is an unmarried male), or something that can be known after sense experience (I have a hand because I can see feel and move it).
Therefore they say the question is neither true nor false. Christians, Athesist and even Agnostics (They say it`s unknowable, but still meaningful) all contend the propostion is either True or False.

Besides the obvious kindergarten responses of " we are all human" or "children of god" or your very own facetious answer of "nothing" They do have common interests and questions about creation the universe, life, death etc. They differ in their approach to solving these 'mysteries". It's because of the common interests that there is a conflict. If atheist were interested in butterflies and believers in shoes there would be no conflict.

They can agree on certain moral standards. I mean, I do.

Six of the ten commandments seem to be an idiot's guide to society. The other four I can't agree with because I don't worship god, but I'm an atheist and that's something I have in common with most Christians.

Alot actually. I have noticed that despite the petty differences between everyone on here there is a subtle core that binds us all together. We all love, we all think to hurt another is basically wrong, we all get amazed at times by the granduer of the world around us. And much much more.

we all breath the same air and all eat and...well you know.

God just doesn't like me. he refuses to answer me when I try to talk to him. You could try to be a little nicer to me... after all I'm doomed to burn in hell forever so shouldn't I at least get a bit of time before then to have something a bit better.
What the heck do people do in heaven anyway?

what we all have in common is that we think about and try to understand god. some try to get into his good graces and others have given up that pointless and frustrating pursuit.

Quite a few things...

1. they are all human beings
2. they are religiously devoted to their beliefs
3. they are both making a leap of faith to arrive at their conclusion...they just base their faith on different things.
4. and on here at least, they seem to feel compelled to share their beliefs with others and even, in some cases, ridicule the beliefs of others.

Many things, I am sorry you are unable to see these things but rather glibly say nothing...
