If you're young... say under 15... then I think your taste buds are just very sensitive - to the garlic, basil and just strong spices and seasonings.
As you become older, you'll get used to "new" flavors and those foods will grow on you.
As long as you give different foods a chance, I say don't worry about it and just let it happen.

You'll may find that your tastes will change throughout your life.
What you like to eat now, may not be what you like to eat 10 years from now.
If you're interested in food, learn to cook, try new ingredients, if you don't like them now .... try them in 5 yrs, you may change your mind.
I used to hate all sorts of foods ... chicken, olives, peppers, chips (no, only kidding!), and most vegetables.
Then, I learned to cook, I became more adventurous about what I eat. There are still some things that I would never eat, but I'm not picky about food any longer.
Oops, that should read "You may find that your tastes change".... damn that Spell-Checker!!

Little and often. It might just be the way they are cooked that you do not like. Take Chinese for example. Near where I live there are 3 takeaways. Each time I have had something like Chow Mein for example in each one, it is different from the next takeaway.
I went to baby sit somewhere else in the town and the people let me order a takeaway and I had chow mein again. Totally different! It is just the way different people cook.
Try something from different people's plate until you find something you do like. Everyone's taste buds are different.

i would try a food that you DO like that is in that genre. for instance, if you like fried chicken, try sweet and sour chicken, or general tso's chicken at a chinese place. for italian chicken, try chicken parmesan with very little tomato sauce. it is just breaded fried chicken with mozerella. also, you can try to get chinese food or italian food with little or no sauce, or sauce on the side. a lot of times i find that when i order from certain restaurants it is the sauce, not the food itself, that i don't like.

you stick to your guns if you do not like anything do not eat it.
i use to stick sauce on things i never liked to kill the flavour of it and just swallow quick with out chewing.

At least you try different things! It's one thing to say you don't like them, but have never tried them.
Stick to what you like....
