Why do people say alrighty or alrighty then? Why would someone say alrighty instead of alright?

it's slang, the improper term for alright, mostly used in a friendly conversation.

Aside from the Jim Carrey movie, they might have been watching Sex & the City.I've noticed adults using that term when talking to children. I have a friend who uses that term when she is being sarcastic.

people tend to add an "y" or "ie" to the end of stuff for some funny reason... like fred becomes freddie or jack becomes jacky.
