the Bible I cannot understand.
26- I cannot believe.
I have been keeping track of reasons Atheists give for not believing. If you do not, out of curiousity sake, why?
Or do you have another reason to add to the list.

Oh, and Miranda, I am a Christian because it makes my life better, believe it or not. I am surprised by the responses, each one more arrogant. All I was asking for is a reason? Yeeesh!

Here's one to add to your list:
Well I'm not an athiest, but I cannot claim to "believe" in Christ as a Christian does. I do love him and I know he existed. And I see him as a prophet who was sent as a messenger for mankind to teach them about having One God and showing them how to properly live their lives.

Not much of the above list at all.
In essence, I don't have excuses, I have solid reasons, all based upon the fact that the religion myth is mainly nonsense. I have been a proud atheist for over 50 years and cannot say anything more than all gods are fake. It is clear.
JC may well have lived and wandered in the Middle East but much of that story was written by people who never met him and wrote their stories at least three hundred years after the supposed time frame. That time frame has yet to be ratified. Every time one tells a story, it becomes exaggerated ...
Re the bible - check out Leviticus and read it thoroughly. Then tell me that the bible is the word of anyone other than a raving megalomaniac.
By the way, having read your latest edit, all gods have always been and always will be in the imaginaion of weak mankind. Far from cr@p, it is a historical fact. Are you suggesting that Zeus was anything more than imaginary? Or Thor, or Ra? Why don't you believe that they exist?
It really is all common sense but some people lack it in justifiable quantities and prefer to believe in an invisible and mute wizard in the sky because they were taught so as impressionable children and don't have the intelligence to figure out the lies when they (allegedly) mature. Most sensible people get the message when they are about 12 years old. Do you fit into that bracket?
Reality beckons, sunshine. Grasp it and live a real life.

14- I have been seeking Christ and cannot find him.
23- God seems to me just cruel.
24- I cannot see why it was necessary that Christ should die that man be saved.
25- There are so many things in the Bible that sound evil to me and I can't believe in a murderous God. Way too many people are condemned to hell for what? Not falling to their knees in front of a narcissistic God.

None of the above
26- It is a fairy tale written by men
27- There is no evidence whatsoever to back up the claim that Jesus, if he ever existed, was anything more than a man (The Bible does not count as evidence).
"God is imaginary" is not crap.. it is a valid reason. Do you think the Flying Spaghetti Monster is imaginary? Yes? Good. Now we understand each other.

Why do you believe in God?
1. My parents brainwashed me
2. I feel all alone without god
3. I am too weak to survive without god
4. People wouldn't like me as much if I wasn't a christian
5. I can't imagine a reason for living without god
6. I just don't know how else I could have gotten here
7. The bible is the only wisdom I understand
8. I am afraid of the unknown
9. I think I would be a bad person without god
10. Nobody else loves me, only god
11. I am not smart enough to question the world around me
12. What if I'm wrong and I go to hell?

I believe in Christ, but I imagine a answer might be people don't because they don't want to be associated with your average over presumptuous christian who supplements biblical knowledge with things like cheesy christian music, and Jesus fish on their car, and allowing another man guide the flock instead of the Lord.
Lets face it, bad Christians turn others into good Nihilists. (Not that a Athiest is always a Nihilist, or a Nihilist aways a Athiest)

I shall give a reason and not an excuse.
I cannot believe in a god who condemns me for being myself. I am a generally good person. I try to help people when I can, I try not to put myself before others. I am a very spiritual person. YET, I am condemned to an eternity of pain simply for following my natural urge to live my life with another man.
Nope, not the kind of god I would want to worship, or know, or spend eternity around. Give me my simple dieties and egregores that don't judge me for being a true person and I'm happy as a clam.

That's odd, I've never seen an Atheist use one of those reasons...because none of them make sense for Atheists. They simply don't believe in the Bible-- and beliefs choose the person, it's something that cannot be forced to change. Like, you can't change the color of one's skin. There's no more motive to not believe than you have to believe-- it's just who they are.
It really sounds like you're just trying to be cruel to Atheists, and make them look bad, or making it look like they're purposely "sinning". In reality it's just making you appear intolerant.
Not to mention that you use the word "excuse". There aren't excuses for not believing-- it's called a "reason". Are you lacking that as well? The same reason you don't believe in Ra or Scathach-- you simply don't. It's that easy, so quit trying to appear intelligent and deep.
Agnostic.
EDIT: "I am surprised by the responses, each one more arrogant." Did you consider that your question was arrogant?

Well first off I am not an atheist.
But if you want a reason why I do not believe in Jesus I will tell you.
Jesus claimed (or his followers did for him) to be the messiah spoken about in Hebrew scripture.
This scripture laid down certain requirements that the messiah needed to do in order to be the messiah.
Jesus failed to do these things.
Thus I have no reason to worship or revere him in any way.
