Why is everyone getting so emotional and cursing out over a simple yes or no question?

I wouldn't. I'd check with my Vet first to make sure dosage was right and I would probably use aspirin before acetaminophen. Dogs can overdose on either and acetaminophen has very serious possilbe side effects, incl. death. Another thing: "Pain" is a very very general description and depending on the cause of the pain, either substance could be the WRONG thing to give. So it might be best to get ahold of your Vet and describe the pain before medicating the dog yourself.

NEVER TYLENOL OR IBUPROFEN! You'll cause the dog to have liver failure. The only pain reliever safe to give to a dog is baby aspirin or coated aspirin. And unless you are sure the dog is in pain & can't wait until you talk with your vet, don't give it anything. Dogs handle pain alot differently than people do. Why do you think the dog's hurting? If it's because of some procedure done at the vet's, they should have told you what to give it. If it's because of an injury, check with the vet first. You may cause more damage.

NO ACETIMINIPHEN, NO IBUPROPHEN PRODUCTS EVER!!!! not even in childrens strength!!!

NEVER EVER take the advice of anyone on the net that tells you it is safe to give Tylenol, Motrin, Aleve, Advil or other products that contain the same ingredients..not even in childrens strength..it could kill your dog at worse or at best it can put it in kidney or liver failure..these ingredients are toxic to dogs.

While asprin can be considered safe for most dogs do NOT give it without checking with your own vet to make sure it is appropriate and safe for your dog and what the proper doasgae would be for YOUR dog..just because someone else gives it ot their dog at such and such a dose does not mean it is ok for your dog.

NEVER give a dog people medicine unless instructed to do so by a vet !! If ur dog is in pain, it should be seen by a vet in any regard. Do u know what is causing the pain ? If so, consult with ur vet as to what can be given. If u don`t know the cause of it`s pain, let the vet make the diagnoses and treat it accordingly. Better be safe than sorry.

To confirm the very few correct answers given, DO NOT give a dog any Tylenol, nor Ibuprofen!! Never!!!!
Plain aspirin is okay, but not without consulting with your vet first, as your dog might have a condition where aspirin could do more harm than good!

NEVER give motrin, tylenol or aspirin of any kind to a dog.
Aspirin can kill your dog with no warning.

I have a dog with hip problems and this advice came direct from Dr. Dowling DVM . She is a Board Certified Pharmacologist and a Professor at the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in Saskatoon Sask. Canada.
Call your vet!!!!

And again there are people that are going to cost the life of this pet.

Tylenol and ibuprofen are a BIG NO!!!

Baby aspirin only. However; what makes you think the pet is in pain and needs pain management.

No!!!!!!

Tylenol can cause liver failure in animals!

regular aspirin is better. Why do you think your baby is in pain? does she have arthritis? look at this site for better answers to pain control for your baby.

sorry, didn't mean to yell, I just don't want you to give her something that will make things worse. If you can't get her to the vet tomorrow at least call them and ask what they recommend.

ABSOLUTELY NOT!!!!!!!!!!! This is not a question to be posed on this website. You need to ask your veterinarian. There are many factors that need to be considered. Call your veterinarian and they can tell you if it is safe or not.

If you make this decision on your own, you are liable to kill your dog. Any questions of this type need to be directed toward your veterinarian who knows your dog. NOT YAHOO! ANSWERS.
