Yes, they're all books with words. I don't think the Bible is necessarily any better than other holy books, but Time Magazine (I don't think) has a religion that draws a lot of itself from it. The Bible and other "holy" books do. The bible just happens to be more "important" in some countries, especially America, because there is a high percentage of Christianity and other faiths, which believe in the Bible. Only you can decide why you would want to trust the Bible or any other book. No one else should even try to make that decision for you.

because the bible says so. get with the times man.
all jokes aside the torah is the old testiment of the bible... same thing basically.
why trust the 'bible'? because christians are raised to do that and not think for them selves, not their fault that's how it is.
most religions are like that , your taught from birth "this is right, nothing else is, if you stray from this path you go to hell" or some such nonsense.
people, formulate your own damn opinions about things. don't follow some book, that was translated by people that were very sexist , and didn't speak the language the book was IN, and then later edited by people wishing ot cement their power and hide their corruption.
WOW.. ok.. in response to a user above, pastor art i believe..
care to site how the qu'ran was proven wrong? i've never heard that. and what about the fact that the bible contradicts itself? if you know your book so well you should notice the way it says something at one point, like, say, the destruction of an entire tribe, and then mentions it again *LATER* as still being there.
then again, we're also talking about a book, which was central to the belief that the earth was the center of the universe and has actually killed people in the past that disagreed.
after all the catholic church just conceded in the '90's that 'whoops , that gallileo fellow may POSSIBLY have been right, our bad.'

The hard and fast answer is you won't take time to read everything.
I trust the Bible because the Holy Ghost has testified to me that it is true. I probably should qualify that...
I had read the Bible cover to cover before that witness came.
I had applied its teachings as best as I understood before that witness came.
I have studied, prayed, and fasted much to that end.
I asked for that witness for a long time, with a willingness to accept it if and when it came.
Further, I use the KJV for argument's sake, understanding that it was printed in the midst of serious disagreements between two warring factions of Christianity at a time that was not known for free or even accurate thought.
I do not pretend that it is perfect, complete or accurate.
God has given a portion of His wisdom to many different people.
You cannot expect to get it all in one volume, or that God has said everything He has to say.
He has also given you a measure to judge these books by.
The scriptures of the " big three ", if you will, recount basically the same creation story and go different directions after God's covenant with Abraham.
The story of Esau selling his birthright, and thus losing his covenant status makes the Arab nations he fathered a fallen race.
Jacob, called Israel had a posterity that laid claim to the covenant, but distanced themselves from God for millennia.
Christianity fulfills the promises made to Israel and introduces a higher law.
But Jesus declares that His Church would be lost, and people would walk their own way for a very long time, until the gospel in its purity would be restored in the last days.
So you can argue that all three religions have fallen. They have no right to speak for God. That is God's job and few are listening, in large part because they spend their strength ranting about how THEY are Father's favorites.
By their fruits ye shall know them.
Grins :)

There has always been people who try to prove the word of God to be false,.....But it never has been proven, the more science try's to discredit it the more they fail, So until it can be shown as false........It is the book we Christians stand on. Also no other religion's profit rose from the dead Except 1 and that is Christianity. Our Savior was the son of God, and he isn't in the tomb he is alive,

Ultimately, yes, words written by humans.
That's not the point, however. The inspiration rings very true to some and not at all to others - whether it was inspired by God and the others were not, who can say?
Is there something definitive about THAT book?
The majority of people on the planet would say "no."
However, since when was religion determined by the majority?

This hints at the biggest logical fallacy of all.
Petitio Principii (also known as circular reasoning or "begging the question")
Q: How do you know anything about God?
A: Because the Bible says it.
Q: How do you know the Bible is reliable?
A: Because it's the Word of God.

why trust all the others and not the bible. ok, sorry i just had to say it.
Because most of the people that wrote the bible never met each other. And they all have the same stories. That is enough for us to convict and kill a murderer. Why is it enough for that, and not enough to live our lives.
Its just one big book of the accounts of witnesses is all.

Well the Torah is the Bible. The first five books of the Bible.
The Quran is not and its been proven wrong many times already.
The Bible has never been proven wrong and lots of historical writers along with archaology confirms the Biblical record.

You shouldn't ;]. There are so many versions of the holy book to which you should live your life by and they all aren't worth listening, just live by your own morals with good behavior and you will be rewarded through your life. All the books are the same, they just try to tell you what to do.

the bible says that it is only meant for christians. the book i follow, the gita, never states that it is only meant for one race or religion. it is meant for all.
also, if im not mistaken, the bible says that all other religions are inferior, if not wrong, compared to it. correct me if im wrong, though.
and one more thing...
how can you compare time magazine to religious books? are you stupid?
