My bf has a small dog. Whenever we have sex, she jumps on the bed and tries to lick one of us. then he gets up and puts her in another room. I think it's gross. She also barks all the time if he is not paying her attention and doesn't listen to him unless he has food in his hand. He seems to reinforce her bad behavior by giving her food when she is barking. Sometimes instead of cuddling with me while watching a movie he lets his dog sit on his lap and pets her. He also lets her sleep in his bed at night and talks to her like he talks to me, "gorgeous, baby, etc." When he is affectionate towards me, the dog gets upset so she starts barking at me and scratching. Is all this normal? What should I do about this?

dogs are very jealous creatures. especially when they are spoiled all the time. also... dogs are naturally loyal and protective. they will often growl, bark, or lick people when they are having sex. dogs do this because they hear the groaning, or the slapping of the two bodies together - they think somebody is getting hurt and want to help. do not have sex when the dog is in the room.
guys and their dogs - i don't know what it is. they get this total attachment thing and spoil the crap out of the damn animal. personally i think it is annoying as all hell! but for some reason they get some weird kick out of bonding with a messy, needy animal. i think it's the needy part.
you could try turning it into a joke... when the dog gets all jealous when he is giving you attention, you could joke and say, "should i get on the floor and wine, bark, and scratch at you, too?" i give my boyfriend a hard time and turn it into a joke and he takes it pretty well. after a couple months, his dog didn't get so jealous anymore. she still does sometimes... but not as much. (she's a 95 pound lab, too! )

Why don't you try to make friends with the dog?

I agree that he is spoiling the dog and re-enforcing bad behavior, but he loves the dog, and I'm betting he's had the dog longer than he has had you. And he knows that even if you go, the dog will stay.

If you want this guy in your life, you will have to make friends with his dog. Get the dog put in another room during sex, but don't go throwing ultimatums or demands around. You'd be real embarrassed if you tried to make your boyfriend choose between you and the dog, and he chose the dog.

He is reinforcing the barking with the food. Bad idea.

Our Yorkie does not like when the wife and I hug or kiss standing up. But when we have sex, the dog jumps off the bed and leaves the room, on her own, quietly.

He needs to train his dog. It definitely thinks you are the 3rd wheel.

Our dog barks unnecessarily, it gets a "bad dog", or "No !"

Work at training the dog, using food treats. It does work. It will like you better. But you need to start by naming something it does, use treats, and "Good Dog !" Just work on sit, lie down. On the couch, teach it "Jump down", to the floor, and give it a treat. Our dog knows both jump up, and jump down. But she's a sweetheart.

I think you are just jealous of your boyfriends dog lol is ok but i actually think that your boyfriend is really sweet is very hard to find a guy that do those thing with dogs. Just tell hem that tell that you feel left out and wen hes petting her to at least have one arm around so both of you can pet the dog be sweet the dog be nice with it and let your boyfriend know that because by being mean to the dog as much as your boyfriend loves that dog he might not like it.
