Someone asked this already in another thread. I'll just copy and paste my response to them here:
There is a difference b/w true love and infatuation (a crush) and although it's not wrong to be infatuated you should at least know the difference.
True love: Takes some time to happen and grow
Infatuation: Happens right away (ie, love at first sight)
True love: Is mutual. Both people love each other.
Infatuation: Is often one-sided. Sometimes, the other person doesn't even know that you like them or have yet to find out you exist.
True love: Both people are helping each other grow
Infatuation: Only one person benefits from the relationship
True love: You can accept the person's flaws (too fat, too skinny) as well as their good points (there is no jealousy when the other person is successful or good at something)
Infatuation: You will stop liking that person just as soon as they stop being so good-looking or rich. There is jealousy when the other person is doing well.
True love: There is trust in the relationship and faith in the other person
Infatuation: There is lack of trust
BIG sign of true love: You will stay with that person even though they are old, bald, out of shape, and in a wheelchair :)
There's nothing wrong with having crushes. So many people want to be in love, but you should enjoy crushes while they last. :) Also, it's okay to fall out of like with someone.
