Avoid the middle of the day, go early in the am, or late evening (don't worry, lots of parents are taking their kids after dinner so they can play without withering in the heat).

Water
sunscreen
snacks
extra clothes in case they get wet
diapers and supplies for the little one
wet wipes
a blanket to sit on
stroller (if it's a large park)
hats if it's sunny

lunch:
fruit (cut up melon, pineapple, apples, mandarin oranges, etc.)
goldfish crackers
maybe a cheese sandwich (no mayo, it doesn't travel well)

and bread or cheerios for feeding the ducks, if any.

from the big cousin of 62 kids (yeah that is 62) I was a constant babysitter and now a mommy so here's what I find works pretty well:

-a backpack (youre gonna have to keep up with the kids, using a diaper bag can be nothersome)

- diapers
- wipes (you're gonna need tem for both kids...trust me) lol
- a few small toys (you can bring balls and such but if there is playground equipment most kids dont even play wit the toys you bring and so i prefer not to carry them)

-sippy cups/bottles (trust me dont ever forget those)
-snacks (long trip bring sandwiches, crackers, cheetos and havea picnic in the park)(short trip- pretzels, cookies, basically a finger food)
- Dont forget the juice and a maybe an insulated sleeve to store it (mom should have one of those already)

-small amount of pocket money ( depending on your park, you'll find that the ice cream man ALWAYS rides by as soon as you step outside.lol)

- sunblock
-hat for the kids
-snack and water or juice for yourself (commony overlooked)
-again depending on your park a small stroller (guaranteed that one is going to be too tired to walk home.lol)

Have fun at the Park!!

Zazy, it's a wonderful babysitter who will ask questions like this one. You get an A+++ from me!

The one thing both parents and babysitters tend to forget is to bring enough toys and books. If you are there long enough, they will go through all of them. The books are for down times, between rushes of activity.

For food:
LOTS of water (find out where the bathrooms are first)
fruit and finger-food veggies, pre-cut -you don't want to have to deal with peeling apples, or explaining to park staff why you brought a knife with you.
Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches
crackers
cheese
bottles if they still use them
napkins
anti-bacterial wipes (you'll need plenty)
hot dogs (not as messy as pb&j
fish fillets
chicken fillets
See what's in the house for a guideline, but ask the parents what they do or don't want the kids to eat or take with them. Have fun with it. Try to remember what was fun for you.

Well diapers & wipes for the 18 month old, a change of clothes to both. Towel & swimming suit if there is water play. Water shoes & sunscren are also a good idea.
A blanket to eat your lunches.
A cooler with water (you can freeze the water and use as ice pack), and maybe juice boxes (can be frozen too)
a fruit for snacking, such as grapes (perhaps cut them in half to be safer for the younger one), strawberries, etc
sandwich (in my home peanut is a no no, but p & J seems to be the most popular)
something else for snacking such as pretzels.
Have fun with the kids!
