25 is a lot!!!!! I think it all depends on the person... are you willing to cut costs, and find the best deal you can? I'm planning a wedding for $5,000. And so far for our reception and ceremony- they will be at the same place, I've been able to cut costs tremendously by calling over 200 places finding out prices. One price I thought was good, I was able to cut in half at another place. So if you set a limit, and go for it, you can do it if you have your mind set to that. We also know lot's of ppl who are helping us out- our friend will make the cake, my dad found a dj for free- just charge for traveling to get there, my mom knows a lady who will do the photography for really cheap, I think my friend's Mom can do the catering and just charge us for the meals, etc. etc. 25,000 is really a lot. I've been reading too about how anything that has "wedding" in it's name is going to charge you way more than without the name- like "wedding photographer." $10,000 you could have a beautiful wedding. But same with 5,000. It all depends on you and what you want, and if you are willing to find good deals on it all.
Good luck. And remember it's one day... certain things the people who attend simply will not remember- like flowers. I went to a wedding a few yrs ago, and have no idea what my friend's flowers were. I just remember having a good time, and that it was pretty.

Hi, I'm in SK. Totally depends upon the number of guests and the style of wedding you want. Ours was 25K - we hosted 200 guests for a traditional church wedding and reception in a small city. If you're having your wedding in Vancouver proper, chances are your catering and venue will be on the high side, unless you go with something like a church hall with the ladies catering.
Just figure out how much the two of you can afford to spend, according to what you have saved, and how much you can save before the wedding, and go from there...

Well we planned 10,000, that will be our reception because we have found an old car museum we fell in love with that rents out the space. That and the room is all black, the amazing thing is our wedding colors are red and white, which look amazing. Unfortunately we were set for 10,000 and now weve upped to atleast 15,000. Were young I don't know how much of a loan we can get, and no one is helping us, although somehow weve acquired 2 honeymoons.

Depends on where your having it, how many people, and things like that. It's entirely possible to budget a beautiful wedding for ten thousand. Personally, i'm budgeting thirty thousand for mine, but we plan to have a big wedding and that includes the honeymoon in Paris.

You can host a wedding with just about any budget, it all comes down to how much you want to do on your own and how much you intend on spending on highly priced things like food, DJ, reception hall, photographers.... I'm planning a wedding with $15,000 and I'm finding it to be just enough. I think what the two of you should do is sit down with a notebook and write out all of the things you want for your wedding and what you imagine you'd like to spend on each service. Add them up and estimate from that point, (adding a little more just in case of tax, tips, etc.) I think that will give you a fairly clear idea of what you two intend on spending together!

Unless you are very wealthy, Twenty-five thousand on a wedding is just ridiculous. You could use that money for a down payment on a house or furniture or your honeymoon. Unless you have money to throw away, don't invest that much into only one day of your life. It will not make the difference between a happy marriage and one that doesn't last. Any memory of that day will be wonderful!!

Well I think he is smart for only wanting to spend $10,000 and it can be done but very carefully. These days it is considered normal to spend upwards of $25,000 on a wedding.
I just recently got married and my husband and I did it all for under $5,000. We didn't want any debt besides our student loans and we pulled it off...we are proof that it can be done.
Congratulations and Have fun!

You can have a really nice, in fact great wedding for under 10,000!!! you can cut cost by making things yourself...such as your invitaitons, find a dress on sale...ect....Think simple when your planning...to also cut costs you can only have two people in your line and his line... Dont plan during the big wedding season, think simple for favors, dont go over board on sweets that people are not going to eat, Definately go bargain hunting!!!
I am planning my own and it is going to be amazing and it is going to turn to be just a tad over 7,000!!!
Good luck!!! And have fun planning!!

$25K might be much better spent towards a house than towards an event that only lasts one day.
My wedding is costing me only $6500 and it's going to be beautiful. I definitely think it is possible to have a really nice wedding for under $10K. =)

I had an ideal wedding, very classy, 250 guests and I only spent 10 grand...including my dress, his ring, etc. You just have to bargain shop and budget well.
