Comparitively, it WAS easier.

And YES, I DO remember being a child.

Well, because the only worries you have generally as children are who do I play with? When you are adults then you have bills to pay, children to raise, jobs to do, etc. It depends on your childhood whether it was happy or sad. I personally if given the chance would not want to relive my childhood. It is better left in the past. I much rather enjoy being an adult which to me is way more fun!! Life is what you make it and is a journey to the end. I am thankful for all the adults that had such wild carefree childhoods. I also see the ones that life was just miserable and couldn't wait to grow up. I fall in the latter category. I have come to realize that although my story was bad there is always someone elses whose was worse. I stopped feeling sorry for myself and walked with an air of self-confidence that I endured that tragedy then I am stronger than most. I heard somewhere that you spend your entire adulthood getting over your childhood?

People, in general, have very short memories.
I am probably the oldest person [ 51 ] answering this question, and I remember how HARD being a kid was. The worst - lack of control over your life! I really hated that!
That 'these are the best years of your life ' stuff - not true!
The worst years of my life were seventh and eigth grade - and I have had brain surgery, cancer, and had two [ 2! ] trees fall on me as an adult!
I had lots more fun from 22 up, then I ever did in elementary, middle, or high school! And that was behaving myself!
They think the lack of responsibility makes up for the limits in choices/behavior - it doesn't.
ADVICE:
1] realize all choices have consequences, for you and other people
2] treat other people the way you would like to be treated - clean up your own mess, take turns, be helpful, etc.
3] don't date idiots/jerks, no matter how 'sexy' they are
4] save 10% of everything you earn, forever; and donate 10% to church or charities
If everybody did this, the world would be so much nicer...

Being a kid is only seen as easier from hindsight.

The reality is that each stage of our life has challenges.

The first time you go through things seem the hardest.

So when you get to adulthood and you look back at being a kid, it seems easy because you have experience now.

I don't think that being a kid is easier.

It's not easy, but when you get older you've learn that a lot of the problems you had as a kid are easy to deal with compared to adult problems, like not becoming homeless. Plus if you didn't learn how to deal with the problems you had as a kid, those are added on, too.

Well said, Doc! I watch my children struggle with what I consider easy everyday decisions and realize that they have no life lessons on which to base their choices. Those life lessons, fundamentally, transform you into the person you will one day be. They are also devastating in that they can quite simply change your life as you know it. A simple rumor at work is annoying, a rumor at school can ruin your social life. Which is, often times, the only life that kids have. Growing up is tough, of course the alternative sucks even worse.

Because most folks have forgotten how tough it is to be a kid. I guess they are simply overwhelmed with their adult problems and don't remember how huge their childhood problems seemed to be at the time.

Personally, I'd not relive the years between my 12th and 21st birthday if I were assured of being crowned Emperor and Absolute Monarch of the Known Universe one day after my 21st birthday. And FWIW, the 30 years since my 21st birthday haven't exactly been a picnic.

many of us remember
we know it is not easy
our lives have become the boring nightmare of teenage years
only the life force has slipped away
we now accept normal as a safe substitute for individuality
we are afraid to be unique

it is easy to be a conformist
it is hard to be a kid in the world of dead adults
it is easy to succumb
it is hard to stay the fight
it is easy to not offend
it is hard to speak the truth

we want to live
but we are frozen in fears
they sell us fears
we no longer have the brash immortality of youth
we are no longer invincible

we remember what it was like
that is why we believe that past youthful time was easier
than now as we surrender to the machine

we struggle now
to feed your future
to repair mistakes of our greed and apathy
we suffer, and deservedly so
for it is our fault that you must be a slave
our guilt makes us heavy

but in your eyes, your loud complaints and cries for reason
we hear echoes of our not distant past,
our lost ideals

we say it is harder now
and it is in a way
because we do everything we can
to make sure you never suffer this fate

we acquiesce to bondage so that you may be free
that is why some of us say,
it is easier for you

in our deepest hearts we know
it is your burden that weighs most heavily
it is your struggle we can no longer fight

you are our hope
please
never surrender

I watch my grandchildren and I know being a kid is anything but easy. I remember it wasnt a walk in the park when I was a kid and nothings changed. I wish I could help my grandkids, but all I can do is talk with them if they want and try not to pressure them. They know they're loved, but I still like letting them know from time to time.

You do not have to go to work even when you are sick because you have a family to support. You do not have to worry about paying bills, taxes, child support, the payroll, or the gross receipts taxes. You can watch TV, go to school and be a smart Alec, and otherwise waste most of every day and no one thinks it is a bad thing!

Coz kids only need to study and do their homework. Working adults need to face the problems that they have in work, family and other areas
