A True Gnani (Divinely Wise or God Realized being)
A "True Guru", acts as a mirror, to allow the student to perceive that which is "True Reality".
A "True Guru", never gives anything to a student. A "True Guru", shows the student that which needs to be removed from the spiritual path enabling the student to be free from trash and excess baggage.
A "True Guru" helps the student pass through the "Ocean of Illusion", thus enabling the student to regain that original purity which is necessary for the student to be in "Unity with God".
"Wisdom is passed from Teacher to student". It has always been this way!

In my opinion GURU word suggest itself it is not Laghu ( smaller / lesser) in knowledge, attitude, behaviour, positive outlook, etc.
knowledge is not the only factor for Guru.We can see in newspaper everyday we read news regarding robbery , rapes, irresect towards parents & elders. I mean to say literacy is not the knowledge.
There is difference between knowledge & information. These are two different concepts.
In schools and colleges we learns that things which are useful to earn in future.Though there are periods of moral sciences in class no such morality observed in society. In such condition you need a proper guidence which builds your character as well as career.
In case of Krishna, He had to demo the next so many generations the need of Guru.Himself Guru was not required, but in future all the people will make their view that if Krishna has been done all the marvelous things in His life without Guru why we required the same.
This way the importance of Gurusanstha would decraesed.krishnas life is demonstration for all.
some more reasons should there.Your question is so important so do not be hurry to pick the best answer earlier.Wait for more precious answers. It will be useful to us also.
Thanks to yahoo!!!!!!

Guru the word it self has vast meaning.
guru doesnt mean who knows everything, guru means who can make his students to learn the knowledge that he has earned over his experience. dot. dont confuse knowledge to information. both are completely different ,
Information can be any thing or crap that you heard or read , but the knowledge is that you have realized.
and the answer to your question.
lord krishna has not born as lord krishna, but just as krishna.
he has become Lord through his activities, And no God will simply sit idle and preach his devotees to pray him.
so the krishna in you question needs a guru to know this world eventhough he know knows everything, it's giving respect to the people who have knowledge.
so the guru is the one who teaches what he realized not what he hears, and student is the one who realizes what his Guru knows.

GURU - The one who removes darkness & stagnation to bestow the light of knowledge & speed of thought.
Just as one needs a pot/bowl/cup to drink water from the large river; a Guru is necessary to drink the divine nectar.
Just as a key is needed to open the lock of a treasure box, a Guru is needed to unlock one's hidden potential.
Lord Krishna, though an avatar, had to take initiation from Sage Garga to unlock the stream of knowledge hidden within & he learnt all the 64 vidyas in just 64 days....!!!

Everything starts at him and ends at him.Guru is only a form of Lord ifself. We can see him as a guru during the war.He himself gave Bhagavad Geetha to Arjun.Lord Krishna was on a mission and he is living as a normal child.he must be an ordinary person even if he is god.During his child hood days he had done great things to his Guru as his guru dakshina..
everything is MAYA...
Lord himself is true....
