even secular models show many land masses under water long ago .. there are marine fossils in practically every place on earth ... and as far as genetics go i dont think they have unraveled the mysteries of it enough to read history in it ...

Ahh, here's the thing with the great flood - it wasn't world wide, but it is easy to see, from an anthropological and archeological view, why it can be seen that way.
The old anthro concept that all of humanity started in the area call the fertile cresent - upper African continent near Egypt.
Archeologists have found evidence that the valley flooded - and rather high once, covering most of that area.
Now, if you lived in that valley, and never went anywhere but that valley, wouldn't it be possible for men of that time, being egocentric as humans are, to think that the entire world had flooded? After all, their entire world just did.

The biblical account of Noah's Ark and the Flood is perhaps the most implausible story for fundamentalists to defend. Where, for example, while loading his ark, did Noah find penguins and polar bears in Palestine? Such myths are cop-outs that only credulity can swallow. I agree with Bertrand Russell who wrote:
"There is something feeble and a little contemptable about a man who cannot face the perils of life without the help of comfortable myths. Almost inevitably some part of him is aware that they are myths and that he believes them only because they are comforting. But he dare not face this thought! Moreover, since he is aware, however dimly, that his opinions are not real, he becomes furious when they are disputed."

It makes sense if you can look at a globe & see how the continents all once fit together in one land mass that was separated by a sudden & powerful rain.
It makes sense if you can see how many fossils were found preserved with scientists saying they died suddenly & with some great sudden change in environment.
By the way, did you see on the news yesterday where the theory of evolution is being questioned now because of new ancient human remains found? Check it out. It was on the Yahoo home page just yesterday. Here is the link:

Back in the old days, people didn´t know the rest of the world existed. A great flood that seemed to cover the whole world may only have been the size of , say, essex. Don´t forget they didnt have cars back then, and it took a long time to get anywhare.

I believe in the flood. If it didn't happen, then how do you explain the continental plates? Or the mollusk shells found near the top of the Rocky Mountains, hundreds of miles from the ocean? The Grand Canyon? The Dakota badlands? Before you ask a question like this, please research it.

A skull or part skull has been found in Africa which is bringing the whole question of evolution into the limelight....so No Creation and No evolution...mmmmmm where does that leave us......???? someone had better come up with something else quick or perhaps God has the answer for all if they truly seek it.
Best wishes, Mike.

No one believed before either, that is why only eight were saved.
Soon something similar to the flood will happen again and a figurative ark is now being built, will you get on it?

There are many believers that realize the flood was nothing more than a metaphor. The flood was symbolic for the deluge of mortal man's sinful thoughts. The ark represented spiritual man rising above these thoughts.
