for a bother to give his sister a dozen red roses because she is going to a prom if she has a boyfriend that she has been dating for around 2 years. Why or Why? Do you think a brother should give her flowers at all if she is going to prom. If so, what kind?

No it is NOT proper for a brother to give his sister red roses. However, many people don't know this and I wouldn't assume anything freaky based on this alone. It's just a breach of etiquette. A white or yellow rose, maybe. Or like you said, a spring mix. I honestly don't think flowers are appropriate anyway. Perhaps something less associated with romance or intimacy?

Often times guys just really don't know what each rose color signifies.
They think of buying someone flowers and red roses just automatically come to mind.
So I am sure the Brother just wanted to do something nice for his Sister on a special day in her life and got what 1st came to mind.
I think the thought should be what matters, and the thought is very sweet...

My brother always got me flowers for occasions. I know I have received red roses from him. It wasn't when I was going to a prom (that has been way too many years ago) but nonetheless I didn't think it was weird at all. He didn't care if I had a boyfriend or a husband, he was still my brother.

I don't think there's anything improper about getting any kind of flower from a brother. I personally don't really go by what a certain flower is suppose to signify..like red roses= romantic love, or white roses= purity, etc.. As long as the brother is honestly and lovingly giving from his heart, I think it's great!

In my opinion, a brother should only give his sister flowers on her birthday. And definately not roses. I liked the spring arrangement that was suggested. Anything other than that would just be weird.

Are yall close? I think it is fine to give you flowers for your prom but red roses are kind, ummm. I agree with you on the mixed flowers that would have been a better choice. The only thing I can think is if yall are really close then maybe he is just really happy for you for getting this far and wanted to show you how proud he was of you on your big night.

Why not? Its a special day and if her brother wants to give her some flowers, why can't he? As to the type of flowers, it depends as much on his reasons for giving them as her personality. If he just likes roses, and she does too, then why not. But if he is using them to signal something inappropriate, then no.
Its all in the thought, and intention. Personally I like roses.

I think that it is ok but if the right color of rose is selected some examples are:
The lavender rose is often a sign of enchantment and love at first sight. The orange rose has mainly come to be regarded as the symbol for desire, enthusiasm and passion.the white rose has come to symbolize purity, innocence and secrecy.the yellow rose is purely a symbol for joy and friendship.Dark pink roses are symbolic of gratitude and appreciation, Light pink roses are associated with gentleness and admiration
