There is one that a friend of mine told me a long time ago and I believe it was well said. " No good deed goes unpunished." Every time I have done something good for someone it always has come back one way or another to haunt me. This doesn't mean that I will not do it again.

Mine is........

meaning...
If things are good, don't get too used to it--things can, and will, change.
If things are bad, don't get too down about it--things can, and will, change.
Life goes on, and we can always do better, but we can always do worse.
Another I get tickled about, but do not buy into, is "Always expect the worse, and you will never be disappointed."
I am a much too optomistic person to accept such a premise.
