One would think that people would be amazed by the complexity, accuracy and unimaginable explanation of the creation account of the earth given that the bible is true…but what we got is somewhat different….I’ve added my thoughts in the brackets, so enjoy!

Genesis
1:3 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.

1:4 And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.
(By this point God divided light from darkness)

1:5 And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.
(By now God has created light, which he called DAY)
(There was an evening and a morning…without a SUN!! WoW!)

1:14 And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years:
(Oddly, God AGAIN divides light from darkness?)
(By this point God created the stars)

1:15 And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so.

1:16 And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also.
(Oddly, God only by this point creates the sun and moon)
(The light that separates day from night is the light that shines from the sun, but oddly he created the sun by this point, which is after he created light?)
(God created the lesser light to rule the night “the moon”, but in reality the moon has no light, the light is merely reflected from the sun. God speaks of the greater and lesser light in the same context implying both of them having their own lights)

1:17 And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth

1:18 And to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that it was good.
(God again divides light from darkness for the 3rd time!!)

My thought is you're arguing *against* Biblical creationism. (Or that it should have taken less days?) To begin, let's separate the classes, happenstance vs. design. If nature were allowed to unfold over vast periods, evidence should be accessible. If literal meanings are true for the Bible, the same should also be true. Is there evidence to support a longer history for the planet? Undoubtedly. So, where is the tie in? Likely, the author of the Pentateuch (Moses?) was exacted with imagery and later recalled to paper. In other words, God revealed to His servant what was necessary without forcing a jaunt through the cosmos. First day, light (within the constructs of a dark and turbulent world.) 2nd, atmosphere (sky alters, turbulence abates.) 3rd, dry land. 4th, sky clears (constellations visible finally.) 5th, sea animals...

Outside observers would have a differing opinion of what went on during that time. They would have seen an expanding collection of lights. Some of which would be attracted by strong influences into spiraling discs... And so on.

So, with God having "oddly" repeated steps He'd previously done, can we say that it still only took 6 days? 2 Peter 3:8 explains God's days are like thousand years. Would that be enough to compensate the difference? The last ice age ended circa 9500 BCE. Starting there, day 1 ends 8500. Day 2 = 7500. Day 6= 3500. Sabbath. Continuing until the Flood, Day 1 = 1500. Day 5 = 2500 CE. If Jesus must reign for thousand years and still observe the day of rest later, does that put a cap on the time left until returning? I think it's possible.

No one can say with certainty if life is fundamentally at it's pinnacle. If left to it's own devices, would dinosaurs return? Or would thin, bug eyed gray beings be the next step? One thing is for sure, religion cannot disown it's younger sibling, science.

Couldn't wade through it all, but I can see where you're going with this. Just another case of a little bit of knowledge being dangerous. Day, night, light without the sun, Wow! is not a problem when you know that the sun was created when a giant star exploded and coalesced into what we call the solar system. And there was day and night, and light about 10 billion years before the sun according to present estimates. Also, light was created before any stars from the big bang; how many is that? Three? And on and on. Go back and finish high school.

you're taking the Bible literally. God was referring to spiritual light. The Bible says the world was created in 6 days then God rested on the seventh. Again, you can't take this literally. Numbers had a significant meaning in the Bible. Anytime you see the number 7 its to signify that something is over or complete. It doesn't refer to time as time is man made.

I think that hte reason you're having some difficulty understanding Genesis 1 and 2 is because you're looking at it wrong.

Genesis is not a doctoral astrophysics dissertation. Its point is not revelation of the NATURE of creation but revelation of its ORIGIN, specifically, who made it. It's narrative, not 21st-century science, with the point of making us humble and grateful (the two characteristics Adam and Eve threw away, by the way) to the Creator Of It All.

I have occasionally brought this to the attention of certain fundamentalists with emphasis on how long a "day" can be without a sun or moon (you see why you're having trouble understanding it? You're reading it like a fundamentalist. "There are more things in heaven and hell, Horatio, than are dream't of in your philosophy..." Ask me how I know this. God can be rather humbling when we need Him to be).

Read it like an ancient Hebrew narrative, from the God who wants us to relate to Him in love and gratitude, which is what it is. Then you'll understand it.

I see what you mean with the sun and light and stuff but the 6 days are not literal days. God's view of a day is much longer like millions of years or something!

You forget about Hebrews 11:1-40
These men and women did not have the technology we have today.
But they had an understanding of the scriptures that most of us do not because we have not taken the time to develop a relationship with Jehovah, the writer of the bible.
They knew the creative days were only 6,000 years in length. How much time passed in between those creative days?
Jehovah, Jesus, the faithful angels in heaven as well as Satan and his demon hoard know for sure.
So who would benefit from lying?
Satan of course.
If he can distract you with a lie to keep you from serving Jehovah, he'll do it.
On the other hand, why not learn what Jehovah requires of you and get on the road to a real life, one where eternity is in view and you, me and the rest of faithful mankind may know someday, just how many years passed between creative days.

I used to be an atheist before but thankfully not now, 100 % believer now and the atheists here that have not converted yet are only here for one reason, to learn more about God because they are fence sitters still not sure if they want to jump in. REAL atheists like I used to be would never hang out in a place such as this that is full of religion. in their questions and answers they will deny it but that is only so their friends that see their questions an answers will not make fun of them.they will put up a very strong anti-God front but a front is all it really is.....100 % here are secretly fence sitters..no true atheists here so keep preaching, they really do want to hear it...... even the ones you are talking about....HOWEVER if you see violations of yahoo guidelines please report 100% of the abuses, they can sit on the fence but only decently !

This amazes you? Did you really think that the sun is the source of all light?
Nope God created light and the sun is simply one source of light.
