I am a college student and just moved into a new apartment. However, my bedroom walls are just so white and even though i've moved all my stuff in my room, it still looks so bare. i have one big wall and another shorter one (where the head of my bed rests) that need something. I dont want to paint the walls and i've had the same tapestry on a wall of my different rooms for the past 3 years that i am so sick of. Anyone have any different ideas on how to spruce up my boring bedroom?

Also, I forgot to add that since I am a college student, I am on a tight budget. I really don't have much money to spare.

Gather together some of your favorite pictures of you, your friends, pets, family, scenery whatever. Get some cheap frames, even plain wood ones and a bottle of craft paint, paint the frames, and arrange the pictures on the wall however you desire.

Here's a project that is surely messy, but can give you fantastic results.....
Go to Walmart or any fabric store near you that has bargain fabrics. Find one that matches your colors and that you love. Have the measurements for your wall(s) and the clerk can help you buy the right amount.

Use lots of plastic, and you soak the fabric pieces in liquid starch from the grocery store. Squeeze out the excess and apply it to the wall. You'll have to smooth it out and match the pattern where the pieces join up. It dries and with a bit of care looks like fantastic wallpaper. The best part....when you move or get bored you just pull it off the wall...no glue or mess or anything permanent. Just wash the wall down with a mild soap and water. You can then launder the fabric and it's ready to reuse.
www.decorate-bedrooms-for-less.com has advice for this project and you can search "fabric on walls with starch" for a lot of other sites.

Try using a sheer curtain with vivid color. When the light shines through, it will cast a tint all around and on the walls. Wallmart has fabric for a dollar a yard, but usually it is irregular for some reason or other. Check the bolt or have the clerk help you look for the flaws so it's nothing obnoxious. Also, don't forget about Goodwill - it saved my budget while in college.

To hang your piece of fabric, you can get a spring loaded curtain rod for under five dollars. Anything goes in curtains these days. Hang it with rubber bands, or use the plastic rings that hold six packs of beverages. Make it into any shape you like.

What I did before that was kind of cool was get thin hardboard, cut it into cool abstract shapes, spray paint them bright colors, and hang them up on the wall. It cost about $20 but it looked really modern, maybe even Andy Warhol-ish. If not that, blow up some cool pictures at a photo store and frame them or use them as posters.

I had this big blank wall behind my bed. I went to a wallpaper store and bought a wallpaper mural. Its like looking out a window at the beautiful flower garden. Not expensive and easy to install.

Mirrors and candle scones, posters, favorite photos blown up and framed, add shelving and top with colorful nicknacks, hang up abstract pictures/paintings. You can find alot of neat and useful things at garage sales, just add your own touch to decorate. You could also pin up different colors/textures/designs of material, sway and swag them across the walls and/or ceiling to add lots of color and design.

Look around at Sally Ann's Boutique or go to rummage and garage sales, find that something special that says YOU and buy it and put it there on your wall.
