I always check the carton to make sure there are no cracked eggs. Bacteria can enter and grow in an egg that is exposed (cracked.).You are paying for all the eggs in the carton. You don't want to pay for one you will end up throwing out if you later discover it is cracked -- or worse, not noticing it is cracked and using it, and getting sick. I always check the "Sell by" date on carton to make sure eggs are fresh. I also write the purchase date on the end of carton with a marking pen so I know how long I have had them. I try to use them within a week, and devil them after that. I don't like to hard boil fresh eggs because they don't peel very well.

I always check the carton of eggs to make sure there are no cracks in it. No, there's nothing wrong with that. It's a very good thing.

No! My mom also checks when we go grocery shopping, it's the right way to buy a carton of eggs. I laugh at the people who don't check and then come home with a cracked egg.

I certainly do! I'm not about to buy a carton of eggs where one is cracked. I've been to lots of grocery stores (particularly in the southern U.S.) where the checkers checked the cartons of eggs for cracks, too, so that customers didn't get eggs that were ruined.
If I get it home and it's cracked after that, I have nobody but myself to blame, and it usually means I'll have scrambled eggs for supper ;-)

I check my eggs before I purchase them. If I see broken eggs or even cracks in the eggs, I have made a store clerk aware of it.

I check that they are proper free range, or even better, open range. I don't want to eat those cheap eggs that come from poor deformed, tormented, beak-chopped and drugged-up birds that are crammed in with other birds in tiny wire cages in the filthy sheds for all their hideous short lives - those eggs are sick and stink bad anyhow.

That is totally normal! Who would want to eat an egg that has been cracked- it's not getting your money's worth and besides, you don't know what's in your egg anymore. =P

Nope I just grab them, I've never had a broken egg when I get them home. I have a little store so I think they're less likely to break them.
