Well, I took a vicodin around 5:30 and went to sleep and woke up at about 10:30. I ate a cheeseburger, and I threw up. But heres the thing, I feel dizzy also. I feel sick, and I am hungry. I dunno, maybe I overdoesed? I can barely type. My mom won't talk me to the hospital, and she thinks it is normal. Is this normal? What can I do? Thanks

Sounds like you body doesn't tolerate vicodin well. You do not need to go to the hospital just because you threw up. Drink some liquids like 7-up and maybe eat some plain saltine crackers and just get some rest. I would say you shouldn't take vicodin again. Not sure why you were taking vidcodin in the first place. Was it prescribed for you? If it was prescribed for you then you should call and talk to your docs nurse tomorrow to let her know what happpened so the doc can order a different pain med for you.

Well, Vicodin contains codeine or hydrochodone, which can cause the dizzy, sleepy, 'drunken' feeling. That's why some people become addicted for that feeling. I'm not sure the milligram you took versus your weight, or the reason you have the Vicodin to begin with may be making you ill. If you threw it up, it may have been too high of a dosage, so cut it in half if you must take it again atleast 4-6 hours after the last dosage. You should try to eat something at the time you take it so as not to take it on an empty stomach which could make you sick. If I take a Vicodin, it knocks me out, but doesn't last more than a couple hours, but I'm an adult women and have had it prescribed a few times in my life. For my mom, it does the opposite and wires her up. Since it sounds like you haven't taken it before, you are just now experiencing the particular effects it has on you. It helps with pain, but if the other side effects are too strong, call your Dr. and tell him/her and ask for something else. I don't think the ER could do much unless you took more pills than you were prescribed and they'd pump your stomach, but when you vomited you probably got anything that might have been left after all the hours you slept anyway out of your stomach then. Try to lie down awhile, and get some rest!

I hope the Vicodin was prescribed for you by your doctor. It can cause dizziness and nausea but that's not something serious or lasting. Go ahead and eat something light and sip cold drinks. If you followed your doctor's directions, you didn't overdose. But, if the medicine wasn't prescribed for you, you shouldn't have taken it.
