First, I'd say look at your definition of 'success'. What are you actually expecting?!? Is the path something that you will only walk on particular sabbaths or other special holidays? OR is the path something one walks every moment?
Secondly, take an HONEST look at your life---what do you NEED from your 'spiritual path'?
Other than defining YOUR path, alittle common sense does go ALONG way. If it FEELS 'right"--do it, if it don't FEEL 'right'---DON"T do it....heheheeee
Oh, yeah and regular 'cleansings'. Some people get WAY too smellie. Pretty much every religious or NONE religious path will have the means to rid oneself of their 'ickies' that will weigh a person down. Ickies are things like negative emotions, fear, self doubt, and sometimes even ALL the opinions of OTHERS.
When ya are feeling things like being Lost, Afraid, or even Confused---do a Cleansing, get the Ickies OFF, then find some alone time to SEE how YOU SEE. You ALREADY have ALL the answers for yourself.

success on the spiritual l believe we have to be able to understand that we are all human with the same potential spiritually,we all take different paths on this spiritual journey ,
understanding anothers view point of what is spiritual,
being unconditional towards others view points on any level of living,
living in the moment helps us to achieve this because then,
we become more aware of our thoughts, feelings
how we act and react towards another person,
hopefully this can be successful on a spiritual path of love and kindness for all which would eventually bring peace within us all

1. Being born in a human body.
2. Being blessed with association with a true saint (theoretical an practical).
3. Having extreme apetite for meeting with the lord (in my case Krishn).
Sans any of the above 3, there can not be a possibility of success.

I think getting to know yourself thoroughly is essential because it will allow you to see clearly the reason why you tred the spiritual path to begin with. Focus, study, and love are also necessary.

over-all success of life is in realisation. success in spiritual path, success in earning money, success in fame are all there. say for example, if a beggar is success in spiritual path, whether this can be called as over-all success!

Galatians 5:16-26
Living by the Spirit’s Power
16 So I say, let the Holy Spirit guide your lives. Then you won’t be doing what your sinful nature craves.
17 The sinful nature wants to do evil, which is just the opposite of what the Spirit wants. And the Spirit gives us desires that are the opposite of what the sinful nature desires. These two forces are constantly fighting each other, so you are not free to carry out your good intentions.
18 But when you are directed by the Spirit, you are not under obligation to the law of Moses.
19 When you follow the desires of your sinful nature, the results are very clear: sexual immorality, impurity, lustful pleasures,
20 idolatry, sorcery, hostility, quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, dissension, division,
21 envy, drunkenness, wild parties, and other sins like these. Let me tell you again, as I have before, that anyone living that sort of life will not inherit the Kingdom of God.
22 But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
23 gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!
24 Those who belong to Christ Jesus have nailed the passions and desires of their sinful nature to his cross and crucified them there.
25 Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow the Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives.
26 Let us not become conceited, or provoke one another, or be jealous of one another.

Beyond all things acquire "Wisdom", for it is the one tool that man must have to search for the "Truth". This is the one item that will allow man to cut through the "Ocean of Illusion".
