Well, they can't do everything we can do. They can't vote or hold office and the like but to a point I do agree with you. I find it disgusting that we give health care, education and work assistance to illegal immigrants and don't do enough for our own citizens. What's worse is that I'm taxed at almost 50% to help pay for this crap.
My answer? Round them up and get them out. We granted clemency once before and the promise of it "curing illegal immigration" failed miserably. Now we have an estimate 13 million illegals in this country and everyone is talking about granting them citizenship.
Here's the rub. Let's just assume that only 5 million of them are married and that their spouse and children live back home. Let's assume that they have 2 children apiece. Once those who are here are granted citizenship their familes can then come over. That's another 15 million automatically!
What if it's really 10 million that are married. That will mean then we will be looking at another 30 million people moving here literally overnight. That means that overnight this countries population could grow but 10%.
Dude, you think the illegal population is bing in Cali now? Wait until the can legally bring their families over.

Comparing immigrants of 100+ years ago with the problems of illegal immigration today is an obtuse argument. Do I consider the influx of illegal immigrants an invasion? Of course not. Do I think that entering our country in a method defiant with our immigration laws is a problem? Yes. Do I think our current laws are not only insufficient, but unenforceable? Yes. Do I think that the current immigration bill supported by Decider Commander Guy and Ted Kennedy is the solution? Not entirely. Do I think your military and DMZ idea is a good one? No. Face it, it's a dilemma with no easy solution. We have a workforce issue now... it's been going on too long. We are dependent upon the population of illegal immigrants. If we undo this blunder, it will create economic backlash. Perhaps that's for the best... clean house and straighten up? Perhaps it would be devastating to certain industries, at least in the short term. Perhaps the system for accepting legal immigrants should be improved, and some palpable incentive for illegal immigrants to rectify their un-status should be in place. With the security concerns of our open border policy at their peak, I don't think handing over amnesty will solve our problem, but if we don't put a great deal of money into our current system, there will be no incentive for anything to change.

Good question. In fact, I think illegals live better than citizens. They're here for the joyride, not the facts of life. Think of it: no taxes, no insurance, being outside the law. It's kind of sad when citizens of the greatest country in the world get treated worse than the common criminal.

They are here illegally.
They can't legally vote.
They can't run for office.
They can't know the true pride of being a law abiding, productive, contributing american citizen.
If you find that meaningless, I can't help you or change your mind.
But the entitlement thing pi$$e$ me off too.

Once again if they were not "illegal" they would not have to live in fear of "disappearing" from everything they now know. Spare me the pity party. They made their own choice to live the way they do!

I have a passport so when I go out of the country, I can get back in my good ole U.S. of A.!!! I've heard that illegal immigrants don't have SS#'s, and that they pay into SS with a "pretend number" so that they can file income taxes and pay into SS, but they do not draw SS, so in that way, we benefit. (I learned this from a coworker, who does taxes for an illegal--true? You'll have to research it for yourself.)

NOT all illegal people in the USA are latinos... they are from all over the world... and i believe THAT IF AN ILLEGAL...ANY ILLEGAL PERSON PAYS TAXES.... THEY SHOULD BE TREATED FAIRLY... THEY WORK...THEY PAY...
and the reason we american citizens are called american citizens is because we have more rights... we have the right to travel abroad and not have to worry about deportation ....you know we have it better.... just remember... NOT ALL ILLEGALS ARE LATINOS.... when the first people came to the AMERICAS and started to form colonies in virginia and such they were considered foreigners in the eyes of the TRUE AMERICAN NATIVES.... ONLY THE NATIVE AMERICAN INDIANS ARE TRUE AMERICANS.... EVERYONE ON THE MAYFLOWER AND SUCH CAME FROM OTHER COUNTRIES.. SO THEY CAME TO A FREE LAND... WHY AND WHO ARE WE TO DENY ENTRANCE TO OTHERS..

I don't understand why nationality or passport should be any different than state citizenship.
I think I should be able to travel anywhere in the world that I like with my US passport and if able to support myself, to stay there and work. I see no reason why the government should tell me who I can marry or employ, or where I should live or travel or who I should work for.
Provided they do not pose a physical danger, I am willing to grant foreigners the same courtesy that the several foreign countries I have worked in granted me.

They can not legally get a job and they can not get a drivers license. They live in constant fear of deportation.
Most illegals in this country are here because they have a wife and kids who are Americans and they don't want to lose their family.
