Bring a video game unit with you. Best bet is a Nintendo DS. Or, alternatively, an MP3 player. Southwest is not the best for entertainment or movies. But, with that long of a flight, they might offer something. You can call Southwest and ask them what is offered on your flight. You might also be able to visit their web site and get more details.

I fly SWA just about anywhere within the US. The reason is they are affordable. Which means they skimp on alot of the ammenities. No TV's, no radios or any of that. You can look forward to entertaining flight attendants and roasted peanuts. But as for inflight entertainment, you will need to initiate that on your own. A good book, mp3 player or handheld video games should pass time. Then there is always the best form of passing time....catching some zzzzzz's

The only planes they use are 737s. Select flights have wifi. They don't have movies. They have free snacks and non-alcoholic drinks. No baggage fees for at least your first bag. They are cheap airlines but they have quality service. They are probably the best airline you could fly on along with jetBlue.

Southwest is a great airline - economical and safe. They do not show movies though, and only give snacks. You might take along a portable DVD player to watch your own movie...or a magazine, or video handheld game, and a sandwich. They do give out drinks. Have a good trip, honey.

Not much on Southwest to entertain you. Bring an MP3 player...and be sure to mind the flight attendant as there are times you cannot use it (takeoffs and landings). Take a nice book too. You are right to think it might be boring.
Have a nice trip!

Uh, please don't dole out your flight plans to the general public. We're a bunch of weirdo serial killer molesters. Anyways, I went on a 1 hr flight on southwest, which turned out to be longer with delays and such on the runway and they showed us a movie. Our plane was a bit 70's ish though. I think you should bring a good book to get you through.
Flying is really neat and you should watch the scenery for at least a little while.

I don't care for SOUTHWEST.....I flew them once, and vowed never again. It's like a cattle call, no assigned seats and frankly a little bumpy since they fly lower than most other airlines.
A bonus is, they are rated one of the safest airlines in the sky.!

I visit my family in phoenix form oakland and fly soutwest all the time alone. The flight attendents are extrmely friendly and try thier best to accomidate you. A parent can walk you up to the gate. It isn't that big of a deal. You feel very comfortable on the plane.

i think that if u r flying by urself...then southwest is the worst airline for u...sure it is the cheapest...but there is no entertainment...and u have to worry about being in zone a, b,c and they are not as helpful as airlines like us airways with unaccompained kids...on us airways they will bring u to ur seat and make sure u are ok the entire flight and htey have movies for 5 dollars and they have the radio...

they are a very nice airline, they do have TVs with movies (but you don't get to pick which movie like on Jest Blue), and radio that you can listen to. I flew them once from NC to arizona, and I was very comfortable.
