That's what my mental health case manager told me. I was surprised. I never knew it was junk food. She said, "Girl, you know that's junk food!" But then again, it might be just her opinion. She considers it junk ONLY under the condition that the hamburger bun was WHITE & not WHEAT. Well, I don't eat wheat bread.

As long as you use lean beef and don't eat fries with it, you are okay. Just don't eat beef regularly. Mix your diet with fish and poultry as well!

Although it is not something I would eat, hamburgers can be prepared in a healthy way. They have extra lean organic beef these days. I'm not sure how they taste, but the difference in calories is immense!! Also, Wonder Bread makes light hamburger buns. They only have 80 calories, as opposed to the typical bun which averages 200 calories! There are many ways to cut calories and make hamburgers healthy!!

It depends on the cut of meat, the type of bread, and what else you top it with.

Generally, I personally would not consider it "junk food", but it really depends.

If you are eating too many calories, and need to cut down, homemade hamburgers might be a good thing to cut out of your diet.

It is not junk food. With some salad added, it is a very balanced meal. It may be a little high in calories but that does not make it junk food.

It depends how you make them. What I make has no beef in it. It has grounded chicken, a small amount of pork sausage, mushrooms, green peppers, onions and several spices cooked in an aluminum pouch. Now if she calls in junk food then I will say 'great junk food'.

I don't. Yeah the hamburger is kind of fatty but its not all weird and processed like McDonalds. Especially if you use lots of veggies on it. I like putting onions, mushrooms, tomatos, lettuce, etc. And corn on the cob on the side. Yum. Not junk food.

if made properly hamburgers don't have to be unhealthy. If you use lean meat and add veggies like tomatoes and onions and a whole wheat bun, you have a fairly balanced meal.

I don't eat it on bread at all. If you get a quality ground beef (one with lower fat content) and cook it healthy and eat with a salad, it is just protein and that is good for you. But, if you add the bread and get at a burger joint, then it is "fast food".
see the difference? I am not a nutritionist, though. This is just my opinion!
