I have this obsession with names. So, I would like to ask what it is the worst name you have have ever heard or seen?
They can be funny, ridiculous, misspelled, just plain horrible...you get my point.
I came across one tonight while looking at some old genealogy records. A lady's name was "Thankful Over". I guess her mom had a hard birth! :)
Please share some of yours!
Thanks!

I like the wise guy who said "my" name was the worst. It isn't even my name. It is a screen name after the German legend of Lorelei the siren. So..nice one.

I am 26 and there is a man that is the same age as me (I say this because older people sometimes have some--shall we say--intersting names...). His name is Larvis!

Ug! I don't even know where that came from. I can just see it. "Honey, I really feel like he is a Larvis. Don't you?"

I haven't had children yet, so I don't know if I have a right to be judgmental, but I am going to be anyway. I HATE with a passion the way people are changing the spelling of their childrens names to try to make them more interesting. They end up just looking stupid and it says (the name). My parents were scared I would end up boring. names like tiiaynna, or rheeaanan. You get my point I hope. And made up names are painful too.
I love the old style traditional names for instance.... for a girl, Lucy or Heidi or Alice. Simple, cute!

I know a girl named Takelia (pronounced like an alcoholic beverage) heard about a girl named Tam Pax (Asian), and know of a girl (in my son's grade) named Sharqueeshilitta. Most of the worst names I've ever heard are ethnic African-American names, but I guess they're only weird to me because I grew up in a white world full of Ashley's and Tiffany's. But, many of the celebs take the cake with their weird baby names, like Bob Geldof;s girls, Fifi Trixibelle, Peaches Honeyblossom, and Little Pixie.

I was given a baby names book in my last pregnancy that was full of "names for modern babies." Some of the worst were-

*Colon- an alternative to Colin
*Anthrax- Edgy name for a boy *Borax- as above
*Contraction- a beautiful (apparently)name for a beautiful girl

I couldn't imagine naming my baby after a poison, cleaning product or part of the anatomy!

They just had an article in aol news today about a family that wanted to name their newborn son, 4real, but it was rejected because in New Zeelend you can't have numbers in a name. Now they are naming him Superman. Those are officially the stupidest name I've ever heard of.

My mum said the birth notices in her local paper announced twins: Ocean and Mermaid.
I mean really, aren't you supposed to like your children? How can you do something like that to someone you like?

Oh yeah, and my friend had an exchange student from somewhere in the Middle East. Maybe it's a really pretty name over there, but to us it sounded like "Pornfan."
It was recommended that she take an English name for her duration...
