We're not half as rude as the Christians here.
Why can't they seem to behave themselves properly? What's so difficult about acting like an adult?
We could have a decent forum here if it weren't for the arrogant and deliberately ignorant behavior of the Christians and some of the Muslims.
===========
"I can think of very few Athiest organizations that seek to help others"
How many Atheist organizations of any sort can you think of?
We're not a club, you know. I'm as atheist as anyone you'll meet, and I don't belong to any sort of official "atheist organization".

No, I can't, not on this forum. I will be courteous in real life, and I will refrain from direct insults, but this is a place for me to vent, and I won't be giving that up anytime soon.
I am not a rude person, I am just not an especially nice person. I come off as being an angry, cynical, narcissist because that is essentially what I am, and I don't see a problem with that.
I am angry because I am informed enough to be disillusioned with the state of the society to which I belong.
I am cynical because my dad was, and I adopted his coping method because it is what works for me. I am very much a realist, and what I see makes me cynical. I don't posses an ounce of blind faith, and I don't take things for granted.
I display narcissistic personality traits because I grew up in an environment in which I had few peers, and so I grew up to have trouble seeing anything but the faults in people, and being that I am antisocial, I withdrew from those who may have made me more reliant on others, and now I am emotionally self-reliant to the point where I am unable to fully respect or love another individual unconditionally.
I work on my problems, but in reality, I am no more messed up than the average person, and I like who I am a great deal more than most of the other people I know. I am not unintelligent, and I have a great many intellectual strengths. I posses a normal amount of human empathy, and most people in my life would probably describe me as a good person, regardless of certain aspects of my personality.
I will not cease to be patronizing and derogatory when I feel such is necessary, and your request that I stop does not inspire, being that you make your request while being derogatory and patronizing.

"know what the word means an agnostic can say "i can't be sure there's a god, or aliens, or of god was an alien, i just don't know" while the atheist says "god doesn't exist aliens don't exist, a new flavour of yogurt cannot exist because it hasn't been scientifically discovered yet"" I want to drive an electric drill through my skull, and possibly yours first. Agnostic: A person who believes that nothing is known or can be known of the existence or nature of God. Atheism: The lack of belief in a gods, goddesses, etc. Neither have anything to do with aliens, and FYI, you misunderstand how things can be proven. "someone forgot the meaning of science; exploring the unexplored" Science isn't strictly/simply that. "if we lived in the 18th century these would be the people who laugh when a true scientist claims the earth is round; well at that time it wasn't scientifically discovered that the earth is round yet; your ways of thinking are counter productive" *facepalm* No. No one is saying they're a scientist because they are an atheist, so there's no reason to say "true scientist". An idiot would do that, a smart atheist would (of course, assuming this is an area of their expertise and/or they are interested in this area) would look at the science and theory behind it, the evidence, etc. "God" is not a scientifically sound theory. Magic is not a scientifically sound theory. I hope one of those "real scientists" you're talking about swat you upside the head for equating the whole Earth being round deal to the idea of "god". "i said all of this, they shut up/my agnostic and religious friends laughed" You and all your friends need to pick up a dictionary, and start doing some critical thinking. "i hate most atheists - how is me cracking a joke about aliens any different then you talking about the newest sci fi movie you just watched? honestly..." The people you encountered were douchebags, not most atheists. And honestly, I hate you mostly too. No offense, people being this horribly wrong is something that just makes me hate them for some reason. "atheists are the new nerds - but with a little bit of backbone until you slap them back in their place" I'm going to go find a power drill. You better bloody run, mate. Insult me once, shame on you, insult me twice, and I will turn in to Heavy from TF2 and shoot you a new asṣhole for 12 seconds.

One-- please stop generalizing, it's not all Atheists and the same can be said for people of every religion. Have you seen what a few of the Christians on here act like toward people that are not of the same religion? It's not all of everyone-- just a few people that make the others look bad.
Two-- with a few exceptions, Atheists are kind and friendly until someone starts asking mean questions or trying to force-feed them religion. Atheists usually started out with religion, then lost it because of how they were treated, etc.
Three-- the reason you don't see a lot of Atheist charities is because they usually don't organize to help people. They either help people on their own or simply don't preach about the things they do to help. They help out of the good of their hearts and don't feel the need to brag about it...so there are plenty of Atheists helping the needy but they choose to be humble about it.
Four-- I've seen a lot of corrupt religious charities. A well-known Evangelist woman who just died had two husbands (at different times) and the three were taking all of the "charity" money they collected to make themselves rich. And religion in general has done a lot of good--but also a lot more bad that Atheists:
--The Crusades
--Destroying the Mayans and Aztecs
--The Spanish Inquisition
--Salem Witch Trials
So please stop generalizing, it's just unfair. I respect your ideas, you should respect mine and not lump all of us with the few that choose to be rude. Also, if you are going to pick out one group to attack, please learn more about them and try to figure out motives for the things they do. After all, I bet a lot of people would be nicer if people didn't try to throw religion at us.
Peace.

Can you please tell me the significance of the American Red Cross? I've searched high and low, and read the official International, British and American Red Cross history pages and none of them say they started as a Christian organisation, unless I missed that somehow.
I've been reading up to find out what you meant, I don't like to be ignorant before answering a question, and the woman who founded the Red Cross in America hated church, this is a quote of hers:
She remembered the church as austere, with tall box pews and high narrow seats, where the faith was "hammered out" in "an incongruous winter atmosphere."
Not to mention the fact the woman was, what we call in England, a complete strumpet. She got fired for sexual misconduct and also had an affair with a married man.
Is she a typical Christian then, this woman you're holding up as your example of righteousness?

Before you criticize atheists, you should first read some of the self righteous, arrogant and insulting postings from so called Christians aimed at atheists.
There are very few atheists organizations period. That doesn't stop individual atheists from offering money, joining the red cross and contributing in a host of other ways to the community. To suggest otherwise is arrogant and insulting.
BTW, judging any group based on their representation in YA is a mistake.

Have you read some of the mean and horribly rude questions posted in here by Real Morgan Jones??? I am an agnostic pagan and he is just about the most horribly rude and obnoxious bastards I have seen here, and trust me, I have seen a few. He claims to be a Christians and all that, please check his avatar and his questions out, you may be surprised at how rude some self-proclaimed Christians are. He has come out and viciously attacked paganism, and he was incredibly insulting. If Christians in general want atheists and others to treat them with respect, they should remember that it works both ways.

well, i happen to be an athiest who does NOT put other people down for their beliefs, so please stop generalising.
yes, maybe some of us tend to patronise your religion, but believe me than there are a ton of Christians who patronise US for not believing, asking the absolute stupidest questions (which i think are actually serious) like "Why are atheists always so sad/depressed/negative/etc? Do atheists LOVE anything? Do atheists have FEELINGS? etc, etc, etc. They ask these questions as if atheists are another species of human being, and an 'inferior' species too.
I'm sorry if most Christians are not like that, but an unfortunately large amount of Christians post things like that on yahoo.
As for these 'organisations', yes it's true that Christian-based organisations have done a lot for the world, but who really CARES if they are CHRISTIAN-based or NON-CHRISTIAN-based. It's irrelevant. What matters most are the things that that organisation do, and the things that the people in the organisations do for the world. It doesn't matter what religion (or lack of religion) they belong to. Every single one of us is a human being and we all know compassion, helpfulness and kindness equally.

As a former Atheist (I'm pagan, now), I'm mostly rude only to those individuals who try to force their religion down my throat (Which have included: School officials who threatened to withhold my fully earned Diploma from me unless I stood and prayed to THEIR god during school functions, politicians (specifically Missouri's own John Ashcroft, and former presidential candidate Pat Robertson) who were also ministers, who have tried to pass laws subverting the separation of Church and State in a blatant attempt to try and make me worship in whatever way THEY felt was best (as if I was somehow a mentally deficient individual with no free will of my own), and neighbors who threatened to call Child Services to have my step-children taken away because my not being a Christian was somehow harmful to my kids.)
And this was all back when I was merely an Atheist. Since then, I've had to deal with relatives who were horrified to discover that I've 'fallen for Satan's lies' because I've found a spiritual path that works for me, but doesn't involve an Abrahamic deity who sometimes masquerades as combusting foliage, is supposedly all-knowing and all-powerful, but still wants me to vote a certain way and somehow cannot manage his checkbook, and therefore always has to send his followers to ask me for money.

Yeah yeah, Christian Charity's "soul for food" program is quite well run in my country. The millitary and missionary methods of spreading "sentimental" and "closed" semitic relegions is quite successful even in a country like India, the main "relegions" (Hindusims and Buddism) of which are much more advanced in philospahy and openness. Did you know a Hindu can be an athiest and still be an ardent Hindu?
