Crying
To dream that you are crying, signifies a release of negative emotions that is more likely caused by some waking situation rather than the events of the dream itself. Your dream is a way to regain some emotional balance and a way to safely let out your fears and frustrations. In our daily lives, we tend to ignore, deny, or repress our feelings. But in our dream state, our defense mechanisms are no longer on guard and thus allow for the release of such emotions.
To see someone else crying in your dream, may be a projection of your own feelings onto someone else. If you do not cry in your waking life, then seeing someone else cry may be a little easier to deal with then seeing yourself cry.
To wake up crying, represents some suppressed hurt or previous trauma that is coming up to the surface. You can no longer suppress these emotions. They need to be dealt with head on.
To dream that no one hears or responds to your cries, represents your helplessness and difficulties and frustrations in trying to communicate with others. You feel that your words are falling on deaf ears. Perhaps your dream is telling you to be more vocal and work harder to get your point across.
Tears
To dream that you are in tears, signifies that a healing of some sort is taking place in your life. The tears symbolize compassion, emotional healing and spiritual cleansing. Alternatively, tears may indicate pain.
To dream that others are in tears, indicates that you need to rethink your actions and how your behavior may be affecting those around you.
To see a teardrop in your dream, represents previous wisdom you have learned and remembered.

Yes, there must be a reason for that starting when you were 14, and for the crying itself. Keep a pad and pencil beside your bed and the second you wake up you record what you can remember of your dream. After a few weeks of doing that, maybe you can piece together what it is that's bothering you.

It is as normal to cry in your dreams as it is to cry at a movie. It just means that you are either really "in-tune" with the characters and situations in your dreams or that you aren't letting yourself be sad or break into tears when you are awake and it crawls into your sleep. I had that happen for a long time. It's only recently stopped, as my dreams are happier now.

It is usually healthy to cry. It is a release; I read a study somewhere that said substances that produce sadness or depression in the human brain are released in teardrops. So, I say, just let it all out, sweetheart. You'll feel better afterwards.

It depends, if they were tears of joy I would say go ahead and cry a river. If they are tears of fear or sadness I suggest you look further then your dreams to rectify whatever it is disturbing your slumber. "Dreams are a window to your soul" cleanse your spirit to free yourself.
