Yes, there is. The Bible clearly tells us that whatsoever the Church founded by Christ binds upon earth is bound in heaven. The interaction between the saints on earth and the saints in heaven has been binding teaching of the Christian Church from day one, and is therefore "bound in heaven". That's why the Apostles' Creed includes reference to "the communion of saints. Many Protestants recite this creed as a statement of their core beliefs, yet apparently have no idea what this phrase means. The "communion of saints" is the ongoing relationship and interection between the saints still living on earth, and the saints who have passed on to heaven. The saints in heaven still pray for us, and offer our prayers to the Father, as described in Revelation 5:8. So obviously they must hear our prayers in order to do that.

You said "your grandpa taught you everything you know about christianity"...but it seems to me that up to now, you still don't understand your faith? (No offense on that remarks, really). Funny, but a lot of people walks in this thing called "faith" not knowing where they are going? (Well, that does not excludes myself). The Bible talks a lot about this "heaven thing". So I suggest that everything your grandpa taught you, better check it from the authority of this thing called "faith". Otherwise, this "journey" of ours would be in VAIN.
I am very willing to share some little biblical wisdom with you, Sister, should you become interested.
GOD BLESS...

Heaven is only inches away from earth. It is very close to you.
Mal 3:5 And I will come near to you to judgment; and I will be a swift witness against the sorcerers, and against the adulterers, and against false swearers, and against those that oppress the hireling in his wages, the widow, and the fatherless, and that turn aside the stranger from his right, and fear not me, saith the LORD of hosts.
Mal 3:6 For I am the LORD, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.
Luk 10:1 After these things the Lord appointed other seventy also, and sent them two and two before his face into every city and place, whither he himself would come.
Luk 10:2 Therefore said he unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest.
Luk 10:3 Go your ways: behold, I send you forth as lambs among wolves.
Luk 10:4 Carry neither purse, nor scrip, nor shoes: and salute no man by the way.
Luk 10:5 And into whatsoever house ye enter, first say, Peace be to this house.
Luk 10:6 And if the son of peace be there, your peace shall rest upon it: if not, it shall turn to you again.
Luk 10:7 And in the same house remain, eating and drinking such things as they give: for the labourer is worthy of his hire. Go not from house to house.
Luk 10:8 And into whatsoever city ye enter, and they receive you, eat such things as are set before you:
Luk 10:9 And heal the sick that are therein, and say unto them, The KINGDOM OF GOD IS COME NEAR unto you.
Luk 10:10 But into whatsoever city ye enter, and they receive you not, go your ways out into the streets of the same, and say,
Luk 10:11 Even the very dust of your city, which cleaveth on us, we do wipe off against you: notwithstanding be ye sure of this, that the KINGDOM OF GOD HAS COME NEAR unto you.
There are many other places that speak 'where' heaven is, but I don't have enough room for it all here.

I haven't found anything about this in the Bible however, I would encourage you to just 'talk' aloud to him. It is great therapy as well as that we can be our own great sounding board.
Go to a quiet place where you and your grandpa shared fun and relaxing times and just begin talking as though he was there. I think you will discover that you will feel even closer to him!
I hope God allows him to hear all of your words.
Blessings and I will pray for you.

Some religions allow praying to the dead, but the Bible only speaks of prayer to God...
But, next time you pray, and are really missing your grandfather, ask God to tell him what you're feeling. God knows what's best for us who love him...whether we're here on earth, or with him. And I'd bet your grandfather would be happy to know that you still think of him.
But don't let it take over your prayer life. Life is short enough-and God has things for you to look ahead to!

Isaiah 25:6-8
"On this mountain the Lord Almighty will prepare a feast of rich food for all peoples, a banquet of aged wine-- the best of meats and the finest of wines. On this mountain he will destroy the shroud that enfolds all peoples, the sheet that covers all nations; he will swallow up death forever. The Sovereign Lord will wipe away the tears from all faces; he will remove the disgrace of his people from all the earth. The Lord has spoken." (NIV)

I think that when we get to heaven we have some understanding of what is taking place here on earth. I think it is more in the spiritual realm though. Maybe when one of their relatives comes to Jesus they know about it. I think they are anxious for Jesus to come back to get us so that we can all be together.
