If the both the Orthodox and Roman Catholic churches claim to follow Apostolic Oral Tradition exactly, why do they have different books in their Bibles?
Why do they teach different doctrine?
Whose "church authority" shall we believe?

The Orthodox and Roman Catholic Churches do not differ a lot.

The Orthodox Church does not have Apostolic succession...the Pope. They do not recognize him as the head of the Church. They also split over the wording the creed called the Filioque. The term means "and from the Son" and refers to the phrase in the Western version of the Nicene Creed which says that the Holy Spirit proceeds from the Father and the Son. The Orthodox Church does not agree with this.

I am Roman Catholic...I converted from Methodist. In my readings and research I have come to know that the Roman Catholic Church is the true Church.

The Orthodox Church tied itself to the government; only the Emperor could call a Church council. Ever since the fall of the empire, they have not held a council and have no unifying leader who is able to manage their affairs. There are Theological differences which contradict Catholic teaching, particularly in Trinitarian Theology. As to which Church authority we should believe, we should believe the Church who has the authority figure, the Pope, to whom was given the keys of the kingdom, and upon which the Church was built.

Get an NIV or American Standard Bible. I know the Catholic Church has remove lines from their bibles to get you to believe what they want you to; not the whole truth. It is full of holes. EX. The Second Commandment says "God is a very jealous God and we are to pray to no one but HIM. Not to anyone in the sky/heaven, on the ground or in the water." But The Catholic Church teaches you to pray to anyone you want. Look in your Catholic Bible and you shall find the numbers of the missing lines not there.
Jesus said in Matthew 5 that he was not here to start a new religion, but to fix the Jewish one. And that was how it started out. Then Peter permitted others to join with out having to obey all 306 of the Commandments. (Most today don't even know that there are 306 commandments that Moses was given.) And new religions came to be.
In 305/6 29 men decided to start a new religion where they would NOT obey all Jesus had required. That is the present Catholic church. The Orthodox broke off from them. Different areas.
The Authority you need to believe is the WHOLE Bible.
Most religions just pick out what they want and leave the rest alone.
God is no. 1, Jesus is in charge watching over us.

There is only one body, one head fo that body...The people are the church and Jesus is the head...The Catholic Chruch has no more authority than the little church in the wildwood..The Pope is just a man with no more authority than that given to any preacher of the gospel..and I don't beleive he even preaches or anything,,,exactly what does he do to be the head of a church...

Jesus said he would build his church upon the foundation of what Peter had just said, ,"You are Christ the Son of the Living God"...he didn't mean Peter was the foundation...he meant what Peter has said was the foundation...a whole church has been built on the wrong idea...the rock is not Peter,,,,it is Jesus.....and the keys to the Kingdom are given to all of us who are saved..we may freely go before the throne..

For other foundation NO ONE can lay, but that which has been laid, which is Christ Jesus. (I Corinthians 3:11)

And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and THAT ROCK WAS CHRIST). (I Corinthians 10:4).

Jesus said to them, "Did ye never read in the Scriptures, The stone which the builders rejectcd, the same is become the head of the corner: this is the Lord's doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes?" (Matthew 21:42) (Compare with Psalm 117:21, 23)

For they stumbled or the stumbling-stone, as it is written, "Behold I lay in Sion, a stumbling-stone and a ROCK of offence: and whosoever believeth on him (Christ) shall not be ashamed." (Romans 9:33)

The teaching of the Catholic and Orthodox Churches is virtually identical. Nevertheless, Christ gave authority to one Church only, the one He personally founded upon the Apostles, the one that has a historical record in every century since then. Not to a Church that appeared more than a thousand years later, through schism from Christ's Church.

At the time of the split both Orthodox and Catholics followed the Pope. The Pope sided with the Catholics. Case closed (In an extremely brief way) As I said before: Catholic Apologetics will explain everything in depth.

Hope this helps.

I don't think they teach different doctrine, except that the orthodox church don't acknowledge the authority of the Pope, and also don't approve of the images and statues. other than those, nothing is different.

Who do you feel is right?

Personally I don't think either is right. When the Apostles were all killed, there was no one left with the authority to ordain new leaders. They had Bishops but the Bishops didn't have the authority to ordain the leaders. God's authority died with the Apostles.

I have my own strong belief about what happened next but I'm not going to say since I will just get blasted by people here.

What I can say to you dear is to believe what your Bible says and not what tradition says. In the end of it all God will not be interested in which church you went to or which tradition you followed! Obey what he has said in his words..and forget about these things dearie!

Neither of them have 'authority' other than what people give them. And they ALL have strayed from scripture. Do not give into 'traditions of men', follow the Leviticus 23 commandments(which YAHSHUA OBSERVED), and stay pure to scripture.
Those that have EXALTED THEMSELVES are about to be humbled, and those that have humbled themselves WILL BE EXALTED.(Matt. 23:12)
