Yes, I was spanked as a kid. I was NEVER abused, though. I had a wonderful, normal childhood with normal parents who loved me. I turned out fine, have never been arrested, addicted to drugs, or been an alcoholic. When a child gets out of hand there is nothing wrong with a good swat on the a**. Of course I don't like spanking my daughter, but have done it on rare occasions when she's gone beyond 'unruly'. Spare the rod, spoil the child. These soap box idiots need to stop throwing around the word 'abuse' every time a spanking is mentioned. They are the reason many parents have become slackers when it comes to discipline!

Nearly everyone had been spanked in childhood. Not beaten or abused; just spanked with a hand. Some of us got more spankings than others. Some were spanked with the rare single swat to the clothed bottom; others would get panties down spankings with lost of swats every several days.

Yes I was. I don't spank my kids, never have really had a reason to. But I like how almost everyone said they had been spanked before, but now if someone spanks their child it is horrible and child abuse. And also no says that it did not teach them something or that their parents abused then , because I am sure it did, it taught us kids. So really what is the difference between then and now.

Yes, i also got the belt on my behind, had to eat soap, and had to stand in the corner with books on my head for half an hour, if the books fell i would get spanked. I use to have this terrible babysitter when I was a kid. Her kids use to do bad things then blaim me so "wilma" would grab a belt and beat the crap out of me. Whenever I would go there I would sneak out when she wasn't looking and go and stay on the porch at my house till my mom came home. As soon as my mom found out though I never went there again.

Yup all the time and I stopped whatever I was doing that I wasn't suppose to do :) It's amazing how 20-25yrs ago no one really had an opinion on it and now a days if you say the word spank involving kids people freak out.

Spare the rod, spoil the child. My parents spanked me once, when I was 5 and ran away to the grocery store to get candy. (I snuck out my window in the middle of the night, my Dad checked on me and saw I was gone, ooohhh-weee, I still feel it!) But, I never did it again, and I learned that it really does hurt your parents more than it does you. If it comes time to discipline my daughter, and speaking with her does not work, then yes, I will not hesitate to spank. However, depending on the child, discussion usually works, I simply wanted to know why I could not do something, and when my parents explained that it was either dangerous, or disrespectful, or whatever, then I was fine with it. My daughter is the same way, she simply asks why. And we tell her, and she is fine with it. A huge problem with todays brats is there is either no discipline, or there is too much. There is no respect.

God yes! With a hand, wooden spoon, bamboo switch and a mat beating cane! And yes it bloody hurt but only when I really deserved it. I was a **** of a kid sometimes! I occasionally spank my kids (hand only) but they have to do something pretty bad to get that. We use timeout and naughty corner techniques in our house and they seem to work!
