We were wondering if the sleeping was because of her going into heat?... is there anything we can do for her? or anything poms do before heat so we can be ready? we dont want to breed her, we want to actually get her fixed after this cycle. Is that ok?

If she has diarrhea and is lethargic (sleeping a lot), she's not in heat, she's SICK. Take her temperature. (Anything over 102 degrees F is too high).

You need to get her to a vet as soon as you can along with a sample of her poop (in a Ziploc bag).

These symptoms are consistent with several different illnesses (including the deadly Parvo), and are also consistent with different forms of parasitic infestation (like coccidia or giardia). Your vet can accurately tell you which it is.

It's definitely okay to get her spayed after this heat or if she is six mos old or more. It's a great thing to do for her. Your Vet will make sure she is in good health before he does it. Besides being IN heat, the heat, weather wise, can stress dogs and cause some stomach upset. Since she is lethargic, please take her to the Vet for an examination because the lethargy shouldn't be happening and may indicate something serious. Ask your Vet about giving her some pedialyte and some pumpkin pie filling (not the easy kind, but the unspiced and unsweetened kind- comes in a can, at grocery stores, and is just pureed pumpkin.) She may be dehydrated and need I.V. fluids since she has been having diarrhea and is lethargic like that.

till it is a few thing abnormal then no she could be previous menopause. via the time they're six or seven years and under no circumstances had puppies then they stop thier warmth cycle. if that they were breed usual then they could nonetheless have one. i could get her vet checked and had breed dogs for 13years. that's certainly properly particularly worth the coverage. shop her far off from different in cae it is because of the fact it does no longer be reliable for her to reproduce. Pets are actually not reliable breeders even at youthful an prolonged time. Watch her and seek for anthing else unusual yet get vet checked at a reliable convience. extra constructive to be secure than sorry.

If she has been vomitting along with diarria and it has been going on for a couple of day I would take the dog and have her seen. I am in the proces of battling Parvo with my dog and the sooner you catch it the better chances you have of survival. The parvo test is around $40. Even if your dog has been vaccinated for Parvo and is under the age of 2 it can still get. I have recently read the it it on the rise.
Good luck.
