One's eternal destination, in my opinion, stems from who they say Jesus Christ is.

As eternity is a very long time...yes, it does matter.

This has long been my gripe with some people on this section of Yahoo Answers...We are so busy trying to "prove" that "our" brand of religion is the only path to heaven, that the basic good in others is ignored. I know many fine Jewish people, who serve in the community and so on...do they go to hell because they do not accept Jesus? And what about the fundamentalists, who point out that others are not following what they feel God expects of us. Are they the only ones going to heaven? What a huge waste of time!!! I think we sweat the details far too often.
That said; maybe things might be better if we could all agree to disagree, and focus instead on the teachings of Jesus, "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you"....or the basic Wiccan tenant: "Do ye as ye will, if ye harm none"...

It depends on who you ask. I think the God I believe in loves all so I would say he is looking out for us all regardless of religion. But you will get the closed minded that will argue to the death. It is true I am not God and can't truly answer such questions. I guess we will find out when we Die.

It is fun that the answer is always the same it seems the hard the Christian believes the more judge mental he gets. And it real goes against what he tries to preach. One answer says if you read the New Testament ad that only applies to the Christians because the others ain't reading it.

So tell me if I am faithful to the God I understand and am faithful to him all my life then you ar e telling me I will still go to anther place other then heaven?

Yes it does...... v r humans not animals...religion and beliefs tell u the goal and objective of your life ........... without religion there is no difference between humans and animals....just think about it if life was all about eating sleeping, getting a good job ,making money ,getting married and then one day leave all v have worked for all our lives and die!!!... my dear this lfe is given to us to prepare for the real life the AFTERLIFE........ if u dont believe in Islam then u r as good as an animal because u know everything but still are unaware of the objective behind your birth....and remeber people say v decide our own objective...this is totally illogical........the use and objective of any thing is always determined by its creartor....... v determined that a knife should be used for cutting food not killing people because v created it..........similarly v determined that an iron should be used to press your clothes not heat our food..............think about it!!!

No. What matters is how true a person is to himself. Everyone has a conscience. Some people are easily able to get around it. In my life I have not found 'amorality' any less prevalent in religious people than non-religious people.

I other words, though the idea is popular among religious people that strong religious beliefs make one more moral and ethical, I don't find this to be borne out by observation.

Life is what counts.
I have a firm belief that the impressions
we stamp onto quarks (energy bits)
today, will eventually shape our tomorrow.

I don't believe in evolution.
I don't believe in creation without a creator.
I don't believe in a beginning or an end.
I don't believe in heaven or hell.
I don't believe in chosen children.

I do believe that the greatest blessing, is to
wake to a day we have never seen before.
And the greatest sin, is to deny who we are.

In Acts 4, the religious leaders were angry with Peter for preaching the Christian gospel. He told them, "that by the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene -- whom you crucified and whom God raised from the dead -- there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to people by which we must be saved.

I do not believe there is any other way to get to heaven than through Jesus Christ, His death to pay the penalty for my sins; His resurrection to overcome death and the power of sin. I can not and do not try to force others to believe as I believe, respecting them. Yet, at the same time, if I did not TELL them about Jesus, I would do a disservice to them, and to God. If you knew someone was going to walk over a cliff, wouldn't you tell them they were about to walk over a cliff and die? Once I tell them, it becomes a matter between them and God, but just telling somebody is not forcing the issue.

Yet, since you asked -- Jesus is the only way to heaven and He is the only solution to sin. No other religion can make one perfect. Only Christ can as He lives in us.

The ultimate question that needs to be asked is, who is telling the truth? Are Christians telling the world the truth? Maybe the Muslims are telling the truth, etc.? They all have VERY different and opposing beliefs and disbeliefs.

GOD bless

I'd rather not marry a person of the Shinto faith, everything else being equal.

Sure it matters, a great deal, what you believe. You'll find that "believe" [in Jesus Christ] is the operative word all throughout the New Testament. What you believe makes all the difference of whether you go to heaven or hell.

He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
- John 3:18

He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.
- John 3:36

And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.
- Acts 8:37

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
- Rom 10:9

I think it's important for some one to believe in something bigger than themselves, but what they believe in isn't my business. As long they can live a happy, healthy life then it's not my place to judge.
