Read the New Testament...all the way through, and read a couple of Psalms each time you study.
The most important part of Bible study is PRAYER beforehand. Ask that the Word be revealed to you. The Bible is the Living Word of God, and it doesn't matter how many times you read a passage, the Holy Spirit will reveal something knew about to you when you are ready for it.
Sometimes I have a hard time studying certain books, but you will see that they ALL tie together. The Old Testament will help reveal the New Testament to you. I would suggest getting a good study Bible (if you don't already have one). I read from the Nelson King James study Bible. It has truly helped in understanding the cultures and traditions of biblical times....which makes the study more profitable.
2 Timothy 2:15 "Study to show thyself approved of God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth"
God bless!

The fact that you have read the bible at all is a good start. However, don't do what any of the answers tell you to do. You have to thirst after righteousness and when you do you will thirst after the word of God. The reason you find it uninteresting is because you are reading with the natural eye, instead of the spirit. That is why the bible tells you to be a doer of the word, not just a hearer. The understanding, knowledge, thirst comes in the doing. So my recommendation is to start out by doing one thing the bible tells you to do each week, as your walk increases so will your thirst. You will want to read then.

Get the book called "What the Bible Is All About" by Henrietta Mears. It will help add context to those starting out. It gave me a real hunger for the word. Keep that in your left hand and the Bible in your right.
Don't give up! You will be rewarded greatly if you do not give up.
In the Bible I suggest that you start out in the New Testament in the Gospel of John, Then maybe go back to the Old Testament, Genesis, and alternate New Testament/Old. Also search on the Internet for "Bible Reading Plan" for other ideas.
Blessings,

It's a book you need to read straight you, but I hear you.
If you feel intimidated to get through the whole Old Testament, then get through the New Testament first.
My seven year old daughter reads a chapter every evening from the King James Bible - she has no problem with it.
For a wild ride, I like Revelation myself.
Personally, I am in the middle of Ezekiel right now. I really liked Eze 18 and 20.

I recommend the Book of Colossians....but every book of the Bible has the potential to touch you if God decides to speak something specific to you in your life through it....it is the power of the Holy Spirit that really makes the Bible interesting. In fact, even the apostles found this out. For after many days of being with them, it is written of Jesus (in Luke 25:45): "Then he opened their minds so they could understand the Scriptures."
Also, prayer (for wisdom and guidance) before reading (and often times even before choosing what to read), makes an enormous difference! God Bless!

Read the New Testament first....the Old Testament can be hard to understand.....The New Testament is all about Jesus and that is the one you need to know...I love the Gospel of John...it has been called the Love Gospel..it is wonderful....but any of the First four Gospels will get you off to a good start,,,,then read the Book of Acts...it tells all about how the church got started....

For pure entertainment read the book of Ruth. It is only four chapter long and a beautiful love story.
To get an overview of the ministry of Christ read the Gospel of Mark.
