kittens and cats don't need to be bathed because they can keep themselves very clean. that's why they don't need to take heart worm pills like dogs do, because they clean the bug off themselves fast.

Congratulations on your new kitten!

Yes, it's safe to give a kitten a bath. Use a shampoo that's formulated for cats, but if you don't have that, a gently baby shampoo will probably work OK.

Be prepared that the kitten might not be very happy about the bath! If you can trim it's claws first, that might keep you from getting accidentely scratched in the bathing process.

Use warm (not hot) water, and bathe the kitten in your kitchen or bathroom sink. Be sure to rinse well, and dry the kitten in a towel. Kittens get cold easily, so try to get it as dry as possible. If he or she starts to shiver, wrap the kitten in a towel with his or her head poking out, and hold him or her to your chest to warm the kitten.

Hope this helps...

It's safe for the kitten, Hon...however it may not be safe for you!
The only real reason you may need to bathe him is if he has fleas; however, if he's more than 12 weeks old, Revolution (a topical liquid applied to the back of a pet's neck) is an easier and more effective choice.
If his little coat is just grungy or oily, there are dry shampoos that are sprinkled on, rubbed in a bit, and brushed out. Kitty should tolerate this well.
If you still wish to bathe him, clip his little claws first, and have another person stand by to help you. This is most easily done in the kitchen sink, where the kitten will be more accessible to you. And...congratulations on being a warm-hearted, caring person who CARES about animals! :)

Yes, you can. I have a 3 week old kitten. I had to take her to the vet today and I asked. She suggested using Johnson's Baby Shampoo. She told me to use a bath towel, wet it and put some of the shampoo on it. Then rub the kitten. Using a second wet towel you rub the kitten again. A blowdryer (bot held too close to the kitten) will help to dry it so it doesn't chill. Be careful of the kitten shampoos in the pet stores. Many say you can't use it on a kitten under 12 weeks of age.

OH Heck yea, especially if it is a youngie. Be sure ya use warmish water and a mild soap, no flea soap until it is a little older. I always used a soft washcloth a dish pan in the kitchen sink and about a half inch of water. Lots of patience for the first few tries, for they have a tendency to turn into little buzz saws (some not so much) but after they get used to bathing they actually enjoy the experience and may even bug you while you are trying to take your bath - but if they fall into the tub try not to panic and well, you know. ~Blessings~

Yes it is safe to bathe it and use a mild kitten shampoo. If it has fleas it is best to take it to a groomer to give it a mild flea bath. A lot depends on the age of the cat. Good Luck

Yes. Be careful and make sure to towel it dry. The first few times you might get scratched because the kitten will be afraid of the water. Some cats never get used to baths, and some actually learn to like them. If it has long hair carefully brush the hair to remove the tangles. Please be gentle--this is a baby after all.

Aww. It's actually fairly safe to bathe the kitten as long as the water is shallow, but I'm not sure how safe you will be - kitten's claws are sharp as razors! better get the asbestos suit on.

Of course it's okay to give them a bath. If it's just a young kitten I would use a mild shampoo on it, but it's definitely ok to bathe them.

yes it can be safe to put a kitten in the bath, if it is young it should get use to being in the water and when it is older it would most likely enjoy being in water.

depending on how young it is - if it is under 6 weeks old then a damp wash cloth would be better. It shouldn't get too cold.
Either way, DAWN Dish washing detergent is recommended on kittens - a shallow 1" basin of warm water, and be sure to towel kitty off and dry it up quickly! ...don't get soap in it's eyes (of course)
