it surely should.. you may try ...
it may sound weird but honey also helps you to get that shade... vinegar also helps...
you may want to bleach it too.. it stays for long.. but i dont like it as it may spoil your hair???

OH MY GOD..................!!!!!!!!
DO NOT LISTEN TO ANY OF THE ADVICE THAT YOU HAVE GOTTEN SO FAR!!!!!!!!
For one thing tint does not lift tint. That means that putting on a lighter shade will only change the tone of your hair. Not the level of lightness. And that is what you want to change the tone of the blonde. If you want the hair lighter you will have to bleach it a few levels........and since you pull gold or brassy, that tells me that you are either not using a high enough volume of peroxide or you are using something with a gold or orange base. My advice to you would be to get a clairol born blonde toner. This will change the brassyness in your hair Blondest blonde or silent snow ........anything neutral ash or blue violet base is fine. Put it on your hair only after you use a product called Porosity Control, its a cond. this will even out all of the holes in your hair shaft.making it all smooth and even. That will make your hair color come out even . Apply it about 3/4 of the way down let sit for about 15 min and then pull the color all the way through the ends, let it sit on for 10 min then rinse wash and cond. Its hard to know exactly what your hair looks like or what you have done with it in the past, but toners are not permanent so your hair will return to the brassy stage eventually, But at least if you don't like it ......it will return to the first way that you did'nt like it.
Hope this helps you understand a little about how haircoloring works.
Mix a little bit of the color that you bought , make sure that you close the lids on both bottles they loose their effectiveness if left open......snip about ten strands of your hair off of the top of your head put them on a piece of foil or cellophane and
process them as if they were on your head. This will insure no f--k ups.

Anything with "ash" in it will leave your hair with the orange tone, it will not help in making your hair lighter. Get just light blonde without the ash

ash gives you a redish orange tone and so does sun-in trust me i was blonde at a time use matrix so silver shampoo but watch out to much of it or to long can leave your hair a lavender color (since the shampoo is purple) but it really works it takes off the yellowish color and gives it an awesome shine.

if you put vinegar in it, it will give you subtle highlights wich will make it look blonder.. mix i tbs of vinegar[try different kinds] with your shampoo [like a dollop.. the amount you use when you was your hair] and let it sit 5 mins. then rinse it out
