my sis is the quiet type and she did not mention she was muslim. them later that day she told me to try polish ham. i told her that i could nt since i was muslim. then she gasped and said"youre muslim?

'Muslim men hit their wives' is a stereotype, yes. The ham thing is just silliness.
Your sister needn't have said she was Muslim, but she could have said 'of course all Muslim men don't hit their wives.'

Why would you polish ham? Were you displaying it in a fancy ham show??
Anyway...it's not stereotyping it's generalization...stereotyping is saying that all black women snap their fingers and say "OH NO YOU DIDN'T!" but saying black women snap their fingers and say "OH NO YOU DIDN'T!" is just a generalization...
It's all in that word "all"....anyway, it's true...Muslim men do hit their women...do to Christians and Jews and Hindus...but not ALL Christians, Jews, Hindus, or Muslims hit their wives(in this case it's the other way around!)...

Honestly it just sounds like this girl is ignorant about what the muslim religion is and its beliefs. dont be too upset with her. its common in most places for people not to know anything about any other religion or race other than their own.

if you're muslim, you're muslim. if you're christian, you're christian. (as an example)
you have certain beliefs about things and you aren't stereotyping if you look at the real facts.
though...it's kinda hard to do that because the media makes such a big deal about the BAD things of Muslims......
I don't care about that.
I've met a couple people who follow the Islamic faith....they're the exact opposite of what the media says.
It's always good to have diversity between friends, I say.
