My friend's child is exactly 24 months old and she weighs 43lbs. She is of average height for her age. My daughter at 24 months weighed 28lbs and now at 36 months my daughter weighs 35lbs. What is an average weight for a 2 year old...does anyone know? Thx!

When my son was 24 months, he weighed 30 lbs, but he was also slightly above average height-wise. He's 36 months now too, and he weighs 37. When he was 24 months, the doctors said that was a good weight for his height, but 43 pounds is a bit much for a 2 year old.

My son is 7 and he just reached 50lbs. He didn't weigh 40lbs until he was four and a half. Actually, my daughter is 5 and still only weighs 32.5 lbs (she's been checked by the doctor..she's in the low-normal range). 43lbs is a bit much for a two year old.

There are alot of factors, but basically you can find published "child grown charts" various places online. My doctor says your rule of thumb should be that the hight and weight of your child should be within 10-15 percentage points. It sounds like your friend has a little girl with a weight off the chart. Unless she's over 3'5'' (which I doubt) then she's definitely over weight. However, medical factors can also be involved. Certain medications (like steroids for asthma, cancer, and various other syndromes) can make children retain an extreme amount of water and make them weigh much more than they otherwise would.

my son is 4 1/2 and he only weighs 44lbs and at his last check up the dr. said he was the right weight. At 2 years he only weighed about 26-30 lbs.

My daughter just turned 2 years old (mid-july) and she weighs 32 lbs, but she's kinda tall too. I can tell you now though, 43 lbs definitely does not sound right.

24 lbs. 43lbs is outrageous, I would be concerned.
