sheesh, I always end up answering the tough questions...

Most of us on planet Earth follow a similar religious tradition to that in which we are raised. (like I do) Some faiths demand an intricate belief structure, and strict adherance to a specific set of beliefs---among the Christian religions, Catholicism and the Baptists are good examples. I have great respect for both.

Other churches demand a less-rigorous belief system, and often they allow members to openly challange the teachings of the church. I was raised Presbyterian---Methodists and many Lutherans are very similar.

No one can tell you what to believe---well, they can try...but if you are truly interested in the eternal questions, you need to crack a couple of books, and think for yourself. Find someone who is spiritual who has a life in faith that you would like to have, and latch on to that person as a mentor. Stay away from cults---Mormans, Jehovah's Witnesses---and remember one thing always.

If there is a God, (I strongly believe that there is) God is SO FAR above us that really, none of us is any closer to understanding God than anyone else. So, when someone wants to tell you that they have a hammerlock on reality, who God is, what God says, etc...that person is full of crap.
Now go read a couple of books. If you're interested in the Christian Bible, suggest you start with Matthew or Luke, then read Proverbs, Acts, Daniel and Ruth. Good-luck.

To answer your questions is going to require a Little effort from you - not a lot-- just a little bible reading , o.k? This is b/c you asked about my beliefs and it will take too long to explain someones whole religion so I will try to be brief.
thank you.

for starters - how do I know what I believe?---2 timothy 3 : 16,17 and this gives me reason to be sure

how do I believe? the bible tells us about our future--Psalms 37 : 9-11
gives us great hope -- Proverbs 2:21,22
Revelation 21 : 1-4
2peter 3:13

for what reason does the bible tell us about the prophets of old?--- Romans 15 : 4

The reason that we have an opportunity to be God's servants --1 John 2:2

what a great privilege to worship the only true God, Jehovah (Psalms 83 :18) all made possible through His son, Jesus Christ

I know this only scans the surface of only a few of the beliefs of Jehovah's Witnesses, but I hope that you will read the scriptures that were mentioned. you will then see what wonderful hopes and promises that our heavenly Father has given to mankind.

All religions are the same. What I mean by the same is that they have the same goal. The believes are different though...yet the principals stay the same. The obvious difference is in the question, who is got? The question that everybody wants to answer but nobody could. You want to know haven? To meat with the angels? Do you want to see got? Do what is right. Help the poor and never contradict your parents. Forgive "god" is forgiven...etc. That what you are going to be judged for.
I wish good luck with your decision

There is no formula to describe belief in something invisible. How do I know GOD exists? I will only speak for myself. I have gone through some trouble in my life a few years ago. I strongly believe that GOD protected me from harm during this time. I believe, that a lack of faith in the LORD might have resulted to me being in jail, or worse!

Here is something to think about: Have you ever been in a situation and there was something telling you inside you not to do something? I believe GOD works in ways we cannot imagine.

GOD bless

Jeremiah 29:13-14 says, "You will call on Me and come and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart. Romans 10:17 says, "So faith comes from what is heard, and what is heard comes through the message about Christ."

For me, it all started in the Bible. I believe that the Bible is the Word of God -- and you always get to know others by speaking to them and listening to what they have to say. Then, you see if they follow through and do what they say they will do.

I would start reading the book of Luke, to find out about Jesus. It is the third book in the New Testament. Every Bible has a table of contents. Then I would continue the story in Acts -- they are the most chronological record of the story of Jesus, and there may be a lot about Him you haven't heard.

As for heaven: "From the creation of the world His invisible attributes, that is, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what He has made." (Romans 1:20) In 2 Corinthians 12, Paul says that he was "caught up into the third heaven" (v 1).
The first heaven is our sky. You see that, and know it is there. The second heaven is outer space. You might not have been there, but you've seen plenty of pictures about it, and believe it is there, without even seeing it. If the first heaven exist, and the second heaven exist, just as the Bible says they do, why not the third?

As for angels, have you ever had a near miss or a close call? To the extent that looking back, you do not know how you avoided being hit or anything? Maybe you didn't get hit because something stopped the on-coming.

But beside all of that, the clearest way you know to believe is to just try to trust in Jesus. God is different than other gods. He came down to be with us, to identify with us, to live as we do but without sinning. While He was alive, people rejected Him. His closest friends and family did not understand Him. After spending eternity with God, when He became sin in our place, God, the Father couldn't look at Him. Then before death, He had six or seven trials in the middle of the night, was tortured, and died in one of the worst ways imaginable -- all for you. Since He is God also, He knew that coming to earth -- and came anyway.

The Bible says that all people sin. You probably know that to be true, since you know no perfect people. Babies cry. Children have to be taught to be good. My parents watch reality crime stories, and I want to throw up at just how evil people can be. You probably know yourself that you are not perfect. People believe if there is a heaven, they would be "good enough" to get in. But how good is "good enough"? What if someone is perfect, all except for one murder? What if somebody sins every day, but doesn't commit murder? How can a perfect God who set a standard of perfection accept anything less? He would have lied if He accepted less. And, all sin hurts somebody -- causes death -- to a relationship, to a goal, whatever. It has consequences that affect other people. If God just forgets your sin, what about those who have been hurt by it? Isn't that like a judge forgiving and forgetting a rapist his crime with no thought of the victim of the crime?

God knew we couldn't keep the Law, that's why He sent Jesus. According to the Bible Jesus was the "lamb slain from the foundation of the world." This means God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, all knew Jesus would die before there were any people on earth. They already knew we couldn't keep the Law. Only God can do that, so He did. Now, for believers, He lives in us, keeping the Law (loving others) through us. That happens when we believe and put our trust in Him to do what we cannot do. Having seen Him do what He said He'd do is the best witness I can give that I know He exists.

Start reading the Bible (New Testament). Pray and ask God to reveal Himself to you. What you need is not a religion but a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Ask Him to come into your life. You won't regret it. I became a Christian almost 30 years ago and God has truly blessed me. He changed my whole life, even though I had done a pretty good job of making a mess of it. Faith comes by hearing the word of God ( Romans 10:17). That's why I'm telling you to read the Bible. Start with the gospel of Matthew. Learn about Jesus and how wonderful He is. Start praying that God will direct you to a good church. I'll pray for you.

Its something that develops on your heart when you become a believer. Its a matter for the heart, not the head. When you give your life totally over to Jesus, and spend time immersed in His Word and spend a lot of quiet time with God and reading the Bible, it just develops. God creates in you a new heart and a clean Spirit. You just know that it is true. And that is the hardest thing for non believers to understand.

Cheers

I agree with Drizzt.

If you want to lose weight, you don't say: 'I'll start dieting as soon as I loose some pounds" ..NO, you diet, and THEN you lose weight.

Faith is that.

Ask for faith... is the only thing you need: disposition.. After you keep asking for faith, it will come to you. And also ask for understanding of the bible.

wow... is not a manipulation.. but I see how the skies are starting to open to you, because disposition is the only thing you need to have eternal life .

2. Assist to churches where they teach the bible.
Don't conform with the first one you go to. If you keep asking to God to reveal to you, there will be 'something' that will tell you where to stay (the advantages of having the Holy Spirit by your side).

because "the time will come when men will not put up with sane doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths."

Be careful with that...

I will be praying for you!!

You ask a good question. Some people say it doesn't matter what you believe, but what if those people are wrong and it does matter?
I believe in the God/Jesus of the Bible 1. Because someone told me about Him 2. Because I have experienced him personally.
Try reading the Gospel of John in the Bible and pray (talk to God) and ask him to reveal himself to you.

The Bible teaches that God gives people the gift of faith whom He has chosen to save. Since you seem to have a desire to know and believe the truth it could be that God is drawing you to Him and will give you the gift of faith so that you too can believe and be saved.

John 6:43 Jesus answered them, "Do not grumble among yourselves. 44 No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him. And I will raise him up on the last day.

Ephesians 2:8 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, 9 not a result of works, so that no one may boast.

I can provide you with several links to show why faith is built upon historical fact but unless God calls you into his family they won't give you the faith that you need to be saved.

Check out the Answers button @ http://web.express56.com/~bromar/ or read this article about why you can believe the Bible is of divine origin http://www.jesus-is-lord.com/divine.htm and ask God to give you the gift of faith and click on the Get Saved button at the first link for more info.

May the gracious God of Heaven give you the gift of faith, in Jesus' name, amen!
