In today's society, where a person can become the man/woman that everyone fantasizes about with a scalpel (along with other synthetics), does the phrase "Don't judge a book by its cover" still apply, especially in the realm of relationships???

I think for the "every day" person, personality is still going to be up there on the top of the list of importance in a relationship.

Yes I think it still counts, You can be the prettyest person on the outside and be the uglyest on the inside. You can't tell how a person is just by lookin at them you have to get to know them, to see there personality. Then you can make the decision on who thay are.

i think so. cuz a person's personality is what's going to determine whether or not they spend money on cosmetic surgery or not. and i think most people, outside of hollywood, would rather be with someone who isn't so obsessed about their looks that they would do that just to look a little better. that's what i think anyways. i wouldn't date a girl if she was so into herself that she went to those lengths to look different. i would think that there would be some deeper issues driving her compulsion to look better.

to me it doesnt anymore... 1st impressions never last, once you know the person for a long time, their personality changes.. it can be for better or worst. its a case to case basis for most people.

the only constant thing in this world is change.

It definately matters! If a guy is really cute but a jerk, I'm not interested. Personality matters most to me.

in a way yes, i find that you can start seeing a girl based soley on her looks but as time goes on and you get to know her you start to wish that you got to know her before you moved in together/got more involved with her/took her home to meat the folks

My personality isn't real. I have to ignore the "just be yourself" advice, because my real self is someone I simply don't want to be.
