i ahve to play real high notes on french horn.. its ok for about 5 songs.
but my lips get so numb they kind of start moving on their own and i start making "babbling" noises when i try to play on the instrument and its kind of embarissing..
lol any advice?

Well it's kind of the same for all instruments but yeah I have that same problem too. I play the french horn and a marching kind too. The only way to avoid that is to rest your mouth untill absolutly nessicary. Our band director will tell us to rest because if you play nonstop then you lose control of what you are playing.

Wait, are you saying you can't get an A ON THE STAFF? The one in the second space? That isn't a problem note at all. Are you trying to transpose the instrument into F or something? I am just scratching my head. Are you using a 1-2 fingering... that is the correct one. And the G is 1-3. If you can't find a note that is kind of low in the staff I have to suspect you are using the wrong fingerings. Sorry you have to march : ( Regards....LLB

yeah I hate those fat tires. I don't know whether to encourage you to learn how to spell, or to type. Keep playing the horn though, In time your mouth muscles will strengthen and it wont be so hard.
