Why would you get cancer from sexual intercourse or by blood exchange...that's HIV. Cancer is the abnormal overgrowth of abnormal cells in areas of the body. There are a number of reasons that cancer can occur...genetics, radiation, poisoning, smoking, prolonged sun exposure....etc.

Many keep saying that you can develop cervical cancer from sexual intercourse...this is not true, you can contract HPV from sexual intercourse which can later cause cancer to develop. The actual disease contract from sexual intercourse is the HPV.

You can not catch cancer. It is not passed on to others through any type of contact. As a few of the other answers have stated, there are many contributors to the causes of cancer. I am a cancer survivor, it is no fun, so hopefully you will never have to deal with it. They say that in the near future one will be able to detect through DNA testing your chances of getting many types of cancers, perhaps someday you could look into this if you wanted to. Live long and prosper!

There are many ways. I´m going to give you the actually facts, although you might find some gross. You can get cancer from smoking, a bad diet (junkfood 24/7, everyday of yourlife, plus other stuff), getting a pice of the bone that has cancer put in you (rarely happens, if you hear about it, it will most likely be done at a hospital, but it´s VERY RARE if it happens), and not all sexual activities can lead to cancer. If you have vaginal intercourse with either you or your partner being the carrier of cancer, it´s not contractable ; hence, you will not get it, although cancer is thought to be passed during sexual activites while swallowing sperm. Some docters blame this act to giving throat cancer. Also, exposing oneself to alot of radiation can cause multiple types of cancer, such as breast cancer.

blood transfusions and sex do not have anything to do with the cause of cancer. AIDS yes, cancer no. Cancer is caused by cells that begin to divide, as normal, and for whatever reason do not quit.

There are several ways to get cancer. Yes, sexual intercourse is one. You can get cervical cancer if you are sexually promiscous (you had sex with so many different partners). Yes you can get cancer with blood transfusion but not directly. Example if blood transfused is positive for hepatitis B and you get infected by hepB you have an increased risk of getting liver cancer. Smoking is a way of getting different cancers aside from lung cancer like pancreatic cancer, bladder cancer, oral cancer etc. Too much exposure from the sun can give you skin cancer. But an important factor in getting cancer is your genes. If you have a family history of cancer or if a member of a family had cancer then you have an increased risk of getting cancer. This is most especially true for breast cancer and cancer of the large intestine.
