This is not true, all though Christ says to be baptized for the remission of sins and be transformed by the renewing of your mind, the thief on the cross Jesus said he would be in paradise today, he got born again on the cross, the real being born of water is when we came through the birth canal and the water broke, all the souls were in heaven first and had to be born of women and walk through this life unto judgment, the fallen angels would not do it and left their habitation, so we must receive Gods holy spirit by accepting Jesus as our Savior and then renew the mind by reading his word, and then go get baptized as an outward expression of what has all ready happened when you got born again!

It is the baptism of the Spirit that seals a person unto salvation. Water baptism is a command of Christ that symbolizes the inward change that is supposed to have already occured.

1 Corinthians 12:13 For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body--Jews or Greeks, slaves or free--and all were made to drink of one Spirit.

Romans 6:3 Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? 4 We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life. 5 For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we shall certainly be united with him in a resurrection like his.

1 Peter 3:18 For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive in the spirit, 19 in which he went and proclaimed to the spirits in prison, 20 because they formerly did not obey, when God's patience waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was being prepared, in which a few, that is, eight persons, were brought safely through water.

21 Baptism, which corresponds to this, now saves you, not as a removal of dirt from the body but as an appeal to God for a good conscience, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ, 22 who has gone into heaven and is at the right hand of God, with angels, authorities, and powers having been subjected to him.

Ephesians 2:8 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, 9 not a result of works, so that no one may boast.

GOD can save to the uttermost the bible states.i believe that,i believe GOD judges a persons whole life and knows the circumstances that have kept each of us apart and in a sinful life.GOD knows what is in our hearts and minds with some that acceptance of GODS mercy and forgiveness and redemption may be in the last moments of life.GOD alone is the judge and will judge according to his great mercy and love for each of us so if there were no time to be baptized i think that GOD would accept the repentant sinner just the same.AMEN!

Then how was the thief on the cross saved?
Saved through faith alone, not by works so no Baptist can boast.

Baptism is an outward expression of faith. So I believe you can be saved without baptism. Romans 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
