Go to the pet store and get a product called Bitter Apple. It is usually safe for furniture, has a yuckky taste and will discourage this behavior. Good luck!

The easiest way is to distract it with something else. You can call it, spray with water, make some kind of noise. The best thing is to not let it know it comes from you.

spay the dog with water every time you see the dog do this. Its real good disapline.
